Yes, of course you can pray directly to God, and I think it’s a very good thing to pray to God, who is your Father in heaven. Jesus himself invited us to do so. At the same time, God is not alone in heaven. He is there with the angels and all the saints, as the Bible tells us. They are spending their day praying. They can pray for you as well. You can ask them to bring your prayer towards God. And even when you conclude your prayer and continue with your daily activities, the saints can continue to bring your petitions to God. This is what we call intercessory prayer. You can pray such prayers for other people, but you can also ask the saints to do so for you. Also, the saints have wonderful charisms. They have a kind of speciality, you could
say. For example, St. Francis is often invoked
as the patron saint of animals, and the protection of nature. But did you know that he was very powerful also in spreading the Gospel, and bringing this to everyone in the whole world. Whenever you have a question related to one of these issues, you can ask St. Francis to pray for you. I challenge you to try it. Ask one of the saints to pray for you and
bring your question and petition to God himself.
