The St. Olaf Orchestra – Fall Tour 2017

The St. Olaf Orchestra has a great program lined up for our fall tour. The big work is Rachmaninoff 2nd symphony. It’s rather
famous, a lot of people will know the tune. So it’s a great chance to see a
cross-section of St. Olaf College but mainly it’s a chance to hear some
fantastic music played by a very enthusiastic and very gifted group of young musicians. The St. Olaf Orchestra is unique in several ways. Their level of passion and commitment, I would say these students don’t just play music, but they play it like they really mean it, they play from the heart. It’s not
often you can hear a college orchestra play at the level of a professional orchestra. I think when you watch the St. Olaf Orchestra perform, you won’t be able to miss the smiles, the interaction of the students onstage. I think it’s that again
that sense of strength, of commitment, and that value of community and intentional
music making together, not just individually, not just doing their best
by themselves, but how they interact with the rest of the ensemble, and I think
that’s what’s really unique, and I think people will see that energy coming off the stage.
