The Saints Above Medley

The Saints Above Medley

Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love; The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above. Yet she on earth hath union
With God the Three in One, And mystic sweet communion
With those whose rest is won; O happy ones and holy!
Lord, give us grace that we, Like them, the meek and lowly,
On high may dwell with Thee. For all the saints who from their labors rest,
Who Thee by faith before the world confessed, Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest:
Alleluia! Alleluia! O may Thy soldiers, faithful, true, and bold,
Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old, And win with them the victor’s crown of gold:
Alleluia! Alleluia! O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine; Yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine:
Alleluia! Alleluia! Give me the wings of faith to rise
Within the veil, and see The saints above, how great their joys,
How bright their glories be. Raised by the breath of love divine,
We tread the way the saints have trod; The Church of the first-born to join,
We travel to the mount of God; With joy upon our heads, arise
And meet our Captain in the skies. So Spirit, come, put strength in ev’ry stride,
Give grace for ev’ry hurdle, That we may run with faith to win the prize
Of a servant good and faithful. As saints of old still line the way,
Retelling triumphs of His grace, We hear their calls and hunger for the day
When, with Christ, we stand in glory. We joy not only to be told
How with Thy saints and seers of old Thou madest sweet abode:
We of Thy presence bright can tell; Thou in Thy living saints dost dwell:
We feel the living God. Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert and art and evermore shalt be. Crown Him the Lord of lords,
Who over all doth reign Who once on earth, the incarnate Word,
For ransomed sinners slain, Now lives in realms of light,
Where saints with angels sing Their songs before Him day and night,
Their God, Redeemer, King. Saints and angels joined in concert,
Sing the praises of the Lamb; While the blissful seats of Heaven
Sweetly echo with His name! O such mercy!
Sinners here may sing the same. Christ, from whom all blessings flow,
Perfecting the saints below, Hear us, who Thy nature share,
Who Thy mystic body are. Love, like death, hath all destroyed,
Rendered all distinctions void; Names and sects and parties fall;
Thou, O Christ, art all in all!
