My name is Gabriella Hydehorn. I am 13. I
have three cats and a dog. I like to draw and I like the sports. Gabriella is a
very passionate, vivacious, happy girl. She found a lump on her throat in early
November and she showed it to me. We thought it was just a swollen lymph node.
I went to a couple of different doctors. There was no treatment that was working
so she went to an ENT at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. We found out that
her tumor was actually cancerous and that she was going to have to have it
surgically removed. My diagnosis was an ET midline carcinoma and my salivary
gland right here, there’s a scar. It was a big like bump. They did get
all of the tumor, however it’s a very rare, aggressive form of cancer so she
has to go through chemotherapy as well as radiation. The quality of care at St.
Louis Children’s Hospital has been top-notch. Everybody that we have
encountered at Children’s has been unbelievable. I couldn’t imagine going
somewhere else. When they asked Gabriella to be the
ambassador she was really excited. I think that this is a wonderful
opportunity, especially while she’s going through something so devastating. For her
to be involved in something athletic is a wonderful thing, especially where it
raises money for a personal cause like cancer because she is fighting it every
single day. The money stays in St. Louis. Some of it goes to adult cancer and some
of it goes to pediatric. Join Saint Louis Children’s Hospital Team Gabriella at
