St George’s Festival at Wrest Park

St George’s Festival at Wrest Park

It is like travelling back in time, and we
bought the kids and they are loving it. Seeing history bought to life like this is just fantastic. My favourite bit was the jousting, I loved
it, yeah it was really good. And the best bit I liked it’s the horses. Yeah and he got twelve in the blue knight
got eight. I liked the falconry that was really good. The peregrine falcon it was amazing, it went
200 mph. There’s lots to see, lots going on and there
are lots of people who are doing re-enactment that you can go and talk to who know lots
about the history and things, very interesting. They like the games and playing with other
children, and all the different historical eras. And I liked the bit where the children could
fight each other. And there was a little person who bashed everybody. Well this event, I absolutely love because
there are so many happy kids and so much medieval fun, and I get beaten up constantly by children
with swords. Joy! We enjoyed the cannon blasting in the artillery
show in the arena. It’s nice to be able to celebrate St George’s
Day as well. Everyone’s got the same sort of thing in mind, to enjoy the day and have
a good time with the family. Little George here really enjoyed meeting
the real St George and that was very exciting. You’re risking it aren’t you, eating outside
with a dragon around, taking your life in your hands. I think it actually creates an opportunity
for the kids to kind of understand what happened years ago. There is so much for kids here it’s just
amazing how the kids are completely occupied all day. We watched the Norman Knights didn’t we? Yeah that was a good one. And the gladiators they were really good. Yeah they were funny too. We came dressed as a knight, but we’ve defected
to gladiators because they were clearly much cooler. We dub you Sir Toffee as a Knight of Wrest
Park. St George’s day is something that needs
to be celebrated for all the positive things it stands for, and this event does that. The kids are in year one and they are going
to start studying knights and, you know, I’m way out of practice with this sort of thing,
so it’s a really nice way to bring history you know up to date for them. So it’s been
super. I’m very very very excited. I’m even more
happy. There are so many things to do, you know the
place is buzzing, full of history, great for the kids actually and the family alike, so
a great day.
