I woke up early this morning to go to the pharmacy because I have a cold, then I RUSHED to the train I got a piece of banana bread from Starbucks & Iced Americano for breakfast. It’s super super quiet on the train.. My phone didn’t really have 4G on the train, so I just looked out the window… one more hour to go.. Arrived in Rennes! (finally!!) My friend & I arrived at our hotel, but since the check in time is 2PM, we just left our luggages there. We’re going to Saint Malo this afternoon, so we went back to Rennes station to buy the tickets. After getting the tickets, we went to a cafe at the station for a quick & simple lunch. There aren’t really that many people at Rennes station, and the cafe looks really pretty with all the light. You get a really different feeling here comparing to Paris. We went back to the platform to wait for our train to St.Malo. Feels like all we’ve done today is to be on trains haha It takes about 50 mins from Rennes to St. Malo. Looking at the scenery again 😛 FINALLY, we’re in St.Malo!! The streets here are really clean & quiet, we’re walking to the old town of St.Malo and there’s barely anyone on the street. The old town is right next to the port, and it’s surrounded by the walls. Since it’s right next to the beach, it’s super windy! We went up to the observatory to look at the beach, it’s so pretty! Walking down to the beach~ Arrived at the beach~! We’re just walking around on the beach. We walked up from the beach and entered the old town. There’s a church/chapel in the old town and we decided to take a look. It’s not huge inside, but I really like the stained glass windows. sitting down for a bit… We continued walking around the old town, it’s so quiet and peaceful here. We went up from the stair to the top of the walls surrounding the old town, you can see the entire city from here. I found something like a watch tower, it’s tinyyyy and it smells bad in there idk why lol The ground on the walls are all made of sand. After leaving the old town, we were walking back to the train station, and the newer side of the city feels like a completely different world haha. After arriving at the station, we waited for another 20 mins and got on the train. We walked so much today… finally back at the hotel! We rested at the hotel for a bit and then we went to a crepe restaurant for dinner. My friend got a cup of fermented milk (which is a local specialty apparently), and it tastes just like cream cheese in liquid… I got a mushroom, ham & egg crepe and also a cup of chamomile tea! Since we’re sooo tired today, we decided to just go back to the hotel after dinner. There are SO MANY birds on the trees and they’re sooo loud! Starting my day with cold meds. Got breakfast from a bakery near the hotel. I got a croissant, but honestly I’ve had a lot better ones haha… We’re going to Mont St. Michel today, so we’re waiting for the bus at the Rennes bus station. puppies~ We were told that we can purchase the tickets on the bus, but the bus driver didn’t have change so we missed the 11:45 bus, and we’re just gonna wait for the 12:45 one at the station. Since the bus & train stations are next to each other, we went back to the cafe from yesterday. I got a strawberry and banana smoothie. Everyone at this cafe is so nice! Finally we can go on the bus.. There aren’t a lot of people on the bus, but the bus got delayed for another 20 mins… The weather forecast said it’s gonna rain today, but it’s so sunny and bright haha. The bus drive takes about 90 mins This is my first time seeing the French countryside haha! Arrived at Mont St. Michel! It takes about 25 mins walking from the bus station to the island, but there are free shuttle buses (or you can ride the horse carriage) walking to the shuttle bus stop~ Mont St. Michel is actually just an island. Reminds me of Hogwarts! The alleyways here are very narrow, and on the sides there are some small stores. Our destination is the cathedral on the top of the mountain, so we kept walking up the stairs (great workout) more… stairs… Finally we’re at the ticketing office! And because we have our student cards, we got the tickets for free! Just when I thought I’m done with the stairs… MORE STAIRS.. Once you get up, you can see the front of the cathedral as well as the area surrounding the island. The beach around the island also looks really pretty! The cathedral has a lot of parts made of stone. Behind the cathedral, there’s a long hallway and it really looks like the one in Harry Potter! There are many many statues like this inside. I find the fact that the roofs are shaped like this very interesting. Apparently this is the machine they used to transfer the stones onto the top when the cathedral was built. Stairs again! Everything is made of stone in here! We decided to sit for a bit at the garden behind the cathedral. How do people climb all these stairs back in the old days?! They must’ve been really healthy lol. our new seagull friend. After hanging out with our seagull friend, we’re walking down the mountain very slowly. A lot of the roads here are also made of stones. We stopped by at an observatory on our way down. You can see the people walking bare-feet on the beach from here. One last glance before we actually go down. We took a different path to walk down~ We bought the famous butter cookies after we got down and got on the shuttle bus again. The sky looks so beautiful.. We still had a lot of time before the bus to Rennes leaves so we got off one station early to visit a photospot & we’re going to walk to the bus station. It’s so grand, looks like the castles from movies. It’s super windy (so you can’t here anything but the wind lol), but we really liked this little path that led us back to the station. waiting for the bus Because we took the last bus back, it’s really packed! After a day of hiking, my friend and I were exhausted, so we just got McDonald’s for dinner. backkkk I finished my New York wrap and fries in literally 2 seconds. It’s kind of gloomy today, since our train back to Paris is around noon, we decided to visit the Leaning House in Rennes. On our way there, we noticed that there’s a marathon race going on today! KEEP RUNNING!! You’ve got this!!! When we were walking to the leaning house, it suddenly started pouring rain, so we just decided to go to the train station directly instead. And we realized that we were able to change to an earlier train, so we did that and all of a sudden, the weekend trip is coming to an end earlier than expected! On the train back to Paris. I was kind sad that we didn’t get to see the leaning house, but because of the marathon, a lot of the roads were blocked (plus it was pouring) so we’re just going back earlier! The rain suddenly stopped and the sun came out on our way back. The sky looks so pretty Back in Paris! Taking the subway home~ I thought it would also rain in Paris, but the weather here is really nice! Because we suddenly changed our train tickets, I didn’t get to eat anything so I was starving! Doing my laundry as soon as I got home lol I got a Vanilla Macaron from the bakery next to my house, & I’m just gonna chill and eat this~ After about 2 hours of resting, I went downstairs to throw the trash Before dinner, I’m just gonna do some homework and some research for my projects. Pls ignore the keyboard marks on my laptop screen lol Studying hardddd (tbh I only wrote like 2 lines) Getting my ubereats delivery for dinner!! Having sushi & tempura for dinner~ I finished my meal and washed up~ That’s the end of my weekend! Goodnight~ (:
