Journalism Internship Leads to Part-Time Job at News Station

My name’s Cody Mooney, I will be
graduating in 2018 and currently I am an Intern at WKTV. You come in and you get the morning
meeting down and after that I go out on my first
report. Typically it’s a quick story and I report
back for the noon. After the noon I’ll go back out onto
another story I’ll do two or three stories and I’ll
come back and report them at the five and
six o’clock news. So I can give you guys a tour of
the studio. This is where it all happens. This
is the TV studio and actually this is the reporters desk
right here. For the five and six o’clock news on
the weekends, this is behind the scenes. This is where the reporter sets up,
looks into the teleprompter there and then just delivers the report. Reporting in the studio, it’s a thrill.
I mean, red lights pointing at you… Boom. It’s go time and there’s nothing
better than that. So what’s unique about me is, you
know, I started at WKTV as an intern and then from there it rolled me into
a part time job. Being able to write, edit, shoot, do it
all yourself… It’s awesome. Cody does an amazing job here at WKTV.
He’s gone out and covered some big stories. And Saint Rose is a great school. We’re very
proud, I’m very proud, to call it my Alma Mater. You know, the opportunities that WKTV,
the NBC affiliate of Utica has presented me have been awesome.
The journey has started.
