Inside the NFL Bears and Saints 2007 NFC Championship Game Highlights

CRIS CO.: REX GROSSMAN TO ME IS THE WHOLE STORY. IN MY OPINION IN THESE PLAYOFFS HE PLAYED THE WAY THAT I THOUGHT HE HAD TO PLAY ALL SEASON LONG. WHEN HE DOESN’T MESS IT UP THEN THEY WIN GAMES. BUT THE KEY IN THIS ONE WAS WHEN THEY NEEDED A DRIVE AND NEEDED TO THROW FOOTBALL REX GROSSMAN WENT DOWNFIELD WORKING TO BERNARD BERRIAN AND THOMAS. NOW HE GOES BACK TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA WHERE HE IS A LITTLE MORE COMFORTABLE. DAN: FOLKS, LOOK OUT FOR DEVIN HESTER. THAT’S ALL I’M GOING TO SAY. BOB: WE’LL GET TO THAT LATER IN THE PROGRAM. FIRST LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT HOW CHICAGO GOT TO THE SUPER BOWL IN THEIR GAME LAST SUNDAY AGAINST NEW ORLEANS.>>AND GOOD AFTERNOON, ONCE AGAIN, FROM SOLDIER FIELD IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. THE BEARS HAVEN’T SEEN THIS IN YEARS. UNIQUELY CHICAGO. YOU CAN SEE YOUR BREATH IN THE AIR HERE IN MID JANUARY. GAME TIME TEMPERATURE IN THE LOW 20’S. >>HE’S GOING DOWN. >>AMERICA’S SWEETHEART CINDERELLA TEAM. THE BEARS HAVE SAID THEY HAVE BEEN DISRESPECTED. FOUR OF THE SIX WRITERS IN THE “CHICAGO SUN TIMES” PICKED THE SAINTS TO WIN ITS.>>EVERYBODY TALK ABOUT THAT WE’RE A — TALK ABOUT US LIKE WE’RE A WILD CARD TEAM. WE’RE 14-3. WE’RE SUPPOSED TO BE HERE. ONE, TWO, THREE! SAINTS. >>INSTEAD OF ATTACKING THE HEART OF THE BEARS DEFENSE ON THE GROUND, DREW BREES AND THE SAINTS TRIED TO FLY OVER THE WINDY CITY, BUT THEY WERE UNDONE BY A BEARS TEAM THAT LED THE NFL IN TAKEAWAYS. >>COLSTON OUT OF A TACKLE. 45 OF THE BEARS. TO THE 40.>>PLAY LIKE YOU WANT TO WIN! PLAY LIKE YOU WANT TO WIN NOW! NARRATOR: THE BEARS FORCED THREE FUMBLES IN THE FIRST QUARTER, BUT CHICAGO HAD TO SETTLE FOR NINE POINTS. >>OPEN FOR A TOUCHDOWN. YOU LOOK AT IT, IT IS A MISSED OPPORTUNITY.>>REX GROSSMAN HAS NOT BEEN WHAT I WOULD CALL RAZOR SHARP.>>COME INSIDE. TOUCHDOWN. NARRATOR: REX GROSSMAN WAS FUTILE IN THE FIRST HALF, SO THE BEARS CALLED ON THOMAS JONES WHO CARRIED THE BALL ON EIGHT STRAIGHT PLAYS, GRINDING THROUGH A WEAK AND WEARY SAINTS DEFENSE. >>33 YARDS, THE YOUNG — LONGEST RUN OF THE YEAR. NARRATOR: JONES FINISHED WITH A TWO-YARD TOUCHDOWN RUN THAT GAVE CHICAGO A 16-0 LEAD.>>EIGHT CARRIES, 69 YARDS ON THE DRIVE.>>ALL THE WAY DOWN THE FIELD. ALL THE WAY.>>LET’S GO. LET’S GO. KNOW WHERE NUMBER 12 IS NOW. COMMUNICATE THAT NOW. NARRATOR: THE BEARS KNEW WHAT WAS COMING, BUT THEY STILL COULDN’T STOP IT. >>THERE’S DEMARCUS COLSTON THAT WE HAVE COME TO KNOW AND LOVE. CAUGHT BY COLSTON, TOUCHDOWN! >>A CONFIDENCE-BUILDING DRIVE FOR THE SAINTS. >>THE SAINTS SHOWED A LOT OF MOXY RIGHT HERE.>>IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU CAN RUN BY, KEEP RUNNING — IF HE IS SO DEEP THEN — NARRATOR: DOWN 16-7 AT THE START OF THE THIRD QUARTER, REGGIE BUSH BLAZED PAST BRIAN URLACHER AND THE BEARS DEFENSE.>>GOING TO THROW IT DOWN FOR BUSH. WIDE OPEN. CAN ANYBODY CATCH BUSH? HE’S THE FASTEST GUY ON THE FIELD. NOBODY WILL. 20, 15, 10, 5, BYE-BYE, BABY! A LEAP AFTER 88 YARDS!>>YOU CAN’T GO TO SLEEP ON THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS. >>NOBODY SAID IT WAS GOING TO — TO BE EASY NOW! NARRATOR: THE TEAM FROM THE BIG EASY SHOWED THE CITY OF BIG SHOULDERS SOME MUSCLE. BUT TRAILING 16-14, THE SAINTS ATTEMPT AT TAKING THE LEAD WAS TOO WEAK. >>NO GOOD, BILLY CUNDIFF.>>WE HAVE TO TIGHTEN UP. NARRATOR: WITH 20 MINUTES TO PLAY, NEW ORLEANS GOT THE BALL AT ITS OWN 5-YARD LINE. THE NFC TITLE REMAINED AT STAKE, AND ONLY ONE TEAM WOULD RISE TO THE OCCASION. >>THROW THE BALL, INCOMPLETE. NOW WHAT? THEY ARE TALKING IT OVER. THROWING FROM HIS OWN END ZONE. THE BALL COMES OUT. SAFETY. >>DREW BREES HAS HAD MADE SO MANY WONDERFUL DECISIONS. NO THIS ONE NO. STILL IN THE POCKET.>>WE CANNOT LET UP! NARRATOR: GROSSMAN NEVER GAVE UP SLINGING IT. HE COMPLETED FIVE OF HIS FIRST 20 PASSES IN THE GAME.>>YOU GOT IT REX! NARRATOR: THEN HE COMPLETED FOUR STRAIGHT. >>TOUCHDOWN! TOUCHDOWN BEARS!>>TURNS AROUND, LOOKS FORHE BALL. HE JUMPED A LITTLE BIT EARLY. THE BALL CAUGHT RIGHT BEHIND HIM RIGHT INTO THE HANDS OF THE SAFETY. >>THE BEARS EXTEND THEIR LEAD TO 25-14. >>GO KNOCK THE BEEP OUT OF HIM. LET’S GO! PICK UP THE TEMPO! NARRATOR: IN EXTREME CONDITIONS THE SAINTS MADE EXTREME MISTAKES. ADEWALE OGUNLEYE, #93, SACKED DREW BREES AND STOLE THE FOOTBALL, HANDING THE BEARS OFFENSE PRIME FIELD POSITION ONCE AGAIN. >>LET’S GO! NARRATOR: CEDRIC BENSON EXTENDED THE BEARS LEAD TO 18 POINTS. THE SAINTS OFFERED NO RESPONSE. >>GOING FOR IT. DID HE TAKE IT AWAY?>>YES, HE DID. >>YES, HE DID! NARRATOR: THE SECOND HALF THAT BEGAN IN NEW ORLEANS’ FAVOR HAD CHANGED DIRECTION, AND THE REVERSAL OF FORTUNES BROUGHT THE BEARS THEIR FIRST SUPER BOWL BERTH IN TWO DECADES. >>RUNNING LEFT. 10, A, TOUCHDOWN! TOUCHDOWN BEARS! WHOO! WHOO! AND IT IS 39-14.>>SOLDIER FIELD ABOUT TO EXPLODE. THE FANS ON THEIR FEET. >>GOOD-BYE NEW ORLEANS. NARRATOR: THE CINDERELLA SAINTS MET MIDNIGHT IN A CITY KNOWN AS MUCH FOR ITS WINTERS AS IT IS FOR ITS WINNERS. CHICAGO WON THE GEORGE HALAS TROPHY FOR HALAS’S DAUGHTER, BEARS OWNER VIRGINIA MCCASKEY, WHOSE TEAM, AND TOWN, LOVE THEIR LOVIE.>>THINK ABOUT WHAT ALL WE’VE GONE THROUGH TO GET TO THIS SPOT. ALL THAT HARD WORK. BUT, GUYS, WE DIDN’T TALK ABOUT WINNING THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP. WE TALKED ABOUT WHAT? >>THE SUPER BOWL!>>WE TALKED AUT WINNING THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AND NOW WE GET AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO IT! LET’S GO CHAMPS. ONE, TWO, THREE! CHAMPS! BOB: SO THE BEARS ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE NFC BUT THE BIG ONE COMES UP IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. TH

  1. Dang man. I can't believe it's been "11 freakin' years" since I witnessed this game back in the day! It seems more like 7-8 years ago dawg! Bears seem to be in good shape this year to go back to the playoffs! We got to win for the city! #BEARDOWN #SouthsideChicago

  2. What would have happened if Devin Hester stood at that goal post after that missed FG? A 109 yard TD run back!

  3. Let’s just go win the fucking Super Bowl!!! I’m tired of this shit!! The city wants a championship!!! Go Bears!

  4. You need to get your dates right… this was the 2006 season ….so it would be the 2006 NFC Championship Game

  5. The NFC was a joke that year. 2006-07 Bears were the weakest team to go to the Super Bowl since the 94-95 Chargers

  6. It feels good to be looking forward to a Bears season again. I see a Dynasty in the making here. We finally have top young talent at all the skill positions and then some. We are deep everywhere. What a good time to show off this team of future HALL OF FAMERS than the hall of fame game. See you at training camp.

  7. This was before I started watching bears football, it's a Damn shame they lost to the Colts. Ah well, hopefully the Bears can win a ring in the next couple seasons.

  8. If we had a decent Quarter Back we would have won the Super Bowl.
    Defense wins Champions.
Don’t underestimate the Bears this year .
There is a good chance we will win everything this year.

  9. The Chicago BEARS should have won this Superbowl in 2007 they had the defense and offense they should have been able two get two touchdowns they have to win a Superbowl for the legends and for the city 2019 let's go Bears 🐻 ⬇️
