The movie a star is born’ chronicles the struggle of the Relationship as one person’s becoming more famous and successful and the other person is sort of in the background The first thing is admitting that there’s an issue because lots of couples will dance around something like this So for for one or both of them to acknowledge, look, there’s like some discomfort here. There’s a problem We need to talk about this would be like the first step when you have a couple of dealing with this and also dealing with A situation where someone has become famous that’s got to add a lot of pressure Come on a couple in addition to whatever’s going on at home and in families where there isn’t Fame, you know there often are Family members or friends that are gonna chime in anyway so think about that that you have like your mother or your sister or your father-in-law people making comments now take that and Mushroom it out to you know, the press and you know whatever and people are probably really scrutinized and having I think those couples have a harder time making it in the many versions of the stars or the male character is The person who can’t handle the success of the woman whose star is rising And I they they haven’t done one in There a verse where the woman is having trouble with the man’s success and it’s a statement about sort of our cultural Experience were also socialized as females to be more nurturing more collaborative more supportive You know when men get socialized to be, you know, go out there and succeed So I think all of those things that get internalized from childhood Play out in relationships And so the movie makes more sense this way and looking at how many versions have been over time Can feel a little painful if you think about that. We haven’t really flipped that around, you know, societally yet
