How to Make Salt Dough Angel Ornaments for Christmas

Hi I’m Charisse with WhimsyPaperMache.com
in this video we’re gonna to make the cutest angels using clay
dough if you haven’t used that recipe it is on the channel run over check it out get a batch made and
we will begin alright guys we have our dough clay made just throw it on your work counter and
use flour to keep your dough from sticking to your counter while you roll it out
with a rolling pin now roll it out to about a 1/4 inch-thick you can use rulers on
the side as a gauge um now we’re gonna to get it all flatten out
and I use a cup to make circles which I then take my
cup and I cut in half to make moon shapes
for wings, if you have a moon shaped cookie cutter awesome you can save yourself a lot of
time otherwise you can do my little method here and make some wings now what you get all
these made lay it onto your cookie sheets, so easy now once their all on your cookie
sheet you will take and knife to make little
indentions on the side to help create your wings, this kinda
gives it a whimsical realistic look but not, lol. You want to do this to all your wings
because as you work they will start to air
dry so you want to go ahead make all your
indention’s at once. now to make your body you just
gonna make triangles so you’re gonna to lay out your dough again
and roll it out and I try to make a decorative edge on
the bottom of my triangles. As you can see here I do not have a decorative roller, just for that if you do, that’s great. As you can see here you I’m gonna to take a knife and
cut triangles you can use a heart cookie cutter, use the
bottom half of it and it will make a perfect triangle body for your angel. You can make them as small or large as you want.
Once you get all your triangles cut-out you will then go back over to your cookie sheet. You already have your wings made and you will lay your triangle bodies onto your wings. Dip your finger into some water and apply where your body will lay. The water works as glue. I did lightly
patted down just a little bit not really even much. Also before I make the head create holes for hanging with a straw
wherever you want. Later you will put a ribbon through the hole for hanging on your tree or lay them on top of your gift packages. Now to make the head just in a pinch a ball of clay and
I’m gonna roll it up to make sure all air is out of it, you don’t want any air
in any of your clay pieces because they want to expand and you wont like how that turns out. Make the head in an egg-shaped and then you’re going to place it on
top of your wings were the body meets. Wetting your finger with water to use as glue. Once we get the head on all your pieces then what I do is take a tooth pick and make a little hole for the mouth. It’s like our little angels are singing.
My daughter saw these, she was like what is that Mom? It may not
look like it now but once we get these painted you will be able to tell that they are just excited and singing so once we get the bodies, wings
and head all assembled together we will put some
hair on her. You can use a strainer to make some hair or like you see here I have a tool to squeeze out noodle shaped hair. I will wet the head and place it on you can make long hair, short hair, can make a bun You can even leave the hair off.
Which I decided not to do that I like it with her hair on her. It’s
just a process wetting and applying the hair where you want. They are really whimsical. I have made little heart to put in her
hair, you can make stars if you have little bitty cookie cutters but you can find some at Hobby Lobby or
Walmart. Press out dough for little hearts in her hair Also decorate her dress with hearts, stars, and whatever you like. You assemble everything together for
your sweet little angels as you can see my angels lined up
here and Remember to decorate their dresses. The details really add, I love the hearts and especially in the hair, and
little roses you can make but it really adds now I’d like to
mention that I did get this a design from our a little artist I
found online on I Googled just to get some creative juices
flowing and I found her online. Her website link is in the article, just a beautiful lovely young artist and you will enjoy looking at all
her fabulous workshops she has on her site and so I just wanted give her all the praise
for this so we have got our angels ready to bake You can bake them or you can air dry them. To bake turn the oven on 200 degrees for about 6 hours. If yours are not completely
dry leave bake them longer because they have to be completely dry before you begin to paint them and
this is the end of this workshop showing you how to get to this stage and dry them. You will have to run over to the “How 2 Paint workshop” which for the Dough Angels. Thank you so much for stopping by the
studio, I love having guess stop by the Studio. It is so much fun to create with
someone else. Please like this video before you leave, check out the other videos on our channel thanks so much for stopping by. You have
a Merry Christmas and we’ll see you at the next workshop
