How Church History Applies Today

The Bible reminds us that we are people with
a history. You can almost say you find this mantra in
the Old Testament: “Remember the Exodus,” “Remember the Exodus.” That’s so important for us as Christians,
to remember that we are people with a past-that God, the Holy Spirit, Christ, the Bible—these
are not unique gifts to the 21st-century church. This is encouraging for us, and it also provides
models and examples for us to embolden us so that as we face those challenges today
in the 21st century, we know that there have been those have gone before us. We can learn from them; we can look to them. By God’s grace, we can be writing stories
of our own that should Christ tarry, the church in the future will be able to read about our
stories. Not of us, but of a faithful God working through
us.
