floripa e saint-exupéry

hello earth! So long. I would like to speak
about a little curiosity… … that i’ve discovered
after i came do live here in floripa. The island… … mainly in the south of the island, …there is a interesting
relation with… Antoine de Saint-Exupéry The author
not only, but above all… the Little Prince. In the 30’s
he used to fly… an airplane
for the french mail. Floripa was one of the stops… … of his route. On the city
there are lots of small homages to him… … personally, this made it even greater… … the magic that
this island has. I’ve been living
here for some months… … soon i will go
out of the island. Don’t know where to,
neither for how long… … but here… … was the first place
in my life that… … i’ve felt a call to stay. This video is a small
and personal homage… … to this incredible island. I will read a small paragraph… … from a book called… Wind, Sand and Stars. I’ve read it, in english… … and made a quick translation. “To come to man’s estate… … it is not necessary to get
oneself killed round Madrid, … or to fly mail planes, … or to struggle wearily in the snows
out of respect for the dignity of life. The man who can see
the miraculous in a poem, … who can take
pure joy from music, … who can break
his bread with comrades, …opens his window… … to the same refreshing
wind off the sea. He too learns
a language of men.” Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. In the island,
the fisherman had him a nickname… Zé Perri. Personally i like
to call him… Saint-EXU-peri. That’s it. A big kiss. I am grateful. Hooray to the magical island! This island that i call home. Arigatô! I forgot to speak two things. The first one
is that this painting in the background, … it was the only one
i’ve made in these days… … thinking about
giving to someone. It belongs to Francisco It belongs to Francisco DIDI It belongs to Francisco DIDI Selva One of my huge comrades… … i had the honor
to celebrate his birthday here in this house… he made 6 years! It was MARAVILHOSO! Came people from São Paulo,
from Floripa… … it even had a trampoline! The second thing… … it is about Exupéry. The end of his life
is a bit misterious… … they say
his plane felt down… … and it was never found, but… … i know why it
was never found. Because he didn’t fall,
he ascent… … and not by airplane… … it was by comet!
