Falco Tarassaco, the founder of Damanhur, met guests every Friday by answering their questions. [Guest] I have a question about the citizenship of Damanhur. [Italian translation] [Guest] The question has two components. [translation into Italian] [Guest] Citizenship, in societies in general, involves responsibilities, rights and duties [Italian translation] [Guest] but here in Damanhur responsibility is practiced in a different way, in a spiritual way. [Italian translation] [Guest] What does “spiritual responsibility” mean? [Italian translation] [Falco Tarassaco] I don’t know who told you this, [English translation] [Falco Tarassaco] Maybe it’s because by spiritual responsibility we mean an addition, in addition to direct responsibility towards others. It is not something that replaces the other. Feeling responsible for others in this case means act a little like parents towards others, everyone being parents of the others, and act responsible for people like you would if they were children, whatever the age of the others in addition to having a responsibility … economic, social, in language, in the way of doing, in participation, honesty towards others and so on. There must also be something more, for example in achieving ideals, these aspects which are more spiritual conditions that of realization also, as I said, from the other points of view. I think it meant that. [Guest] Thank you. To this connects my second question. [Italian translation] [Guest] I believe there is intense social activity here with the addition of spiritual value. [Italian translation] [Guest] This spiritual value must be considered as added value or should it be considered as a value underlying all the rest? [Italian translation] [Falco Tarassaco] Surely it is the base, the reason why all other parts are formed. A society in formation, any human group, if it does not have a spiritual basis, a sharing even of myths related to history, to the territory, – anyone can create the myth he wants – he has no way to assert himself or stabilize himself because between people normally there are problems, friction, small or big clashes, in the way of feeling, to see, for a thousand reasons. If there is no stronger base below, society is bound to fall apart. On the other hand, if there are stronger elements underneath, these will overcome the difficult moments, disunions, quarrels and other things of this kind.
