ETERNAL SECURITY 2: DOES IT REALLY MATTER?

ETERNAL SECURITY 2: DOES IT REALLY MATTER?

(Narrator) THE FOLLOWING IS A
SPECIAL VIDEO PRESENTATION OF
IN TOUCH, FEATURING THE TEACHING MINISTRY
OF CHARLES STANLEY. AS YOU UNDERSTAND AND APPLY THE
TRUTHS OF GOD’S WORD, YOU’LL FIND YOURSELF DRAWN
IN TOUCH WITH JESUS CHRIST. WHEN YOU RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR, GOD NEVER INTENDED FOR YOU TO LIVE WITH DOUBTS AND FEARS ABOUT YOUR SALVATION. HE INTENDED FOR YOU NOT ONLY TO HAVE ASSURANCE, BUT TO HAVE THE AWARENESS THAT YOU ARE ETERNALLY SECURE IN HIM. THE BIBLICAL VIEW OF SALVATION MEANS YOU HAVE BEEN DELIVERED FROM ETERNAL DEATH AND NOW YOU POSSESS ETERNAL LIFE. YOU HAVE BEEN DELIVERED FROM ETERNAL DEATH AND YOU POSSESS ETERNAL LIFE. THAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU EXPRESS FAITH, THAT IS YOU EXPRESS YOUR TRUST IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR, BELIEVE THAT HE DIED ON THE CROSS FOR YOUR SINS, AND RECEIVE HIM BY FAITH AS YOUR SAVIOR. THAT’S THE WAY SALVATION, THAT IS, DELIVERANCE FROM ETERNAL DEATH AND POSSESSION OF ETERNAL LIFE, BECOMES YOURS. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT WE ARE TO HAVE ASSURANCE ABOUT OUR SALVATION. NOT ONLY ARE WE TO HAVE ASSURANCE, BUT WE’RE TO KNOW WE ARE ETERNALLY SECURE IN HIM. MANY OF YOU HAVE TRUSTED HIM AS YOUR SAVIOR, YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU’RE SAVED, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO BEING ETERNALLY SECURE– THAT IS, THE QUESTION THAT YOU COULD POSSIBLY LOSE YOUR SALVATION, YOU’RE NOT CERTAIN ABOUT WHETHER THAT CAN HAPPEN OR NOT. MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY’RE SAVED, THEY CAN LOSE IT FOR SOME REASON. THAT’S WHAT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT IN THIS MESSAGE. BECAUSE IT MATTERS WHETHER I BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY OR NOT. THE DIFFERENCE IS VERY CLEAR AS WE OPEN THE WORD OF GOD. THE TITLE OF THIS SERIES IS, “YOUR ETERNAL SECURITY: CAN YOU BE SURE?” THAT’S THE TITLE OF THE SERIES. AND THIS MESSAGE IS: “DOES IT REALLY MATTER?” FRIEND, INDEED, IT DOES MATTER. LET ME REMIND YOU WHAT ETERNAL SECURITY IS. ETERNAL SECURITY IS: THAT WORK OF GOD IN WHICH HE GUARANTEES THAT THE GIFT OF SALVATION, ONCE RECEIVED, IS FOREVER POSSESSED AND CANNOT BE LOST. NOW TURN TO 1 JOHN CHAPTER 5. JOHN WROTE A WORD OF ASSURANCE TO A GROUP OF PEOPLE AROUND WHOM HE WAS NOT LIVING. HE SAID SOMETHING THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT WHEN IT COMES TO THIS MATTER OF ASSURANCE AND OUR ETERNAL SECURITY. YOU’LL RECALL THAT HE WROTE THIS BOOK TO CHRISTIANS, PRIMARILY. AND IN THE 13TH VERSE OF THE 5TH CHAPTER, HE SAYS– (1 John 5:13) “THESE THINGS I HAVE WRITTEN TO YOU WHO BELIEVE IN THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD, IN ORDER THAT YOU MAY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” (Paraphrasing) “I’M WRITING THIS SO THAT YOU MAY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” I’M AMAZED AT PEOPLE WHEN I ASK, “ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT YOU’RE SAVED?” SOMETIMES THEY’LL SAY, “SURE.” BUT OFTENTIMES, WHEN YOU GET DOWN TO REALLY PRESSING THEM, THEY’LL SAY, “I WOULDN’T SAY THAT I’M ABSOLUTELY SURE, BUT I’M PRETTY SURE. I THINK I AM.” THERE’S ONE THING YOU NEED TO BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN ABOUT AND THAT IS WHETHER YOU ARE ETERNALLY SECURE IN THE GRACE OF GOD OR NOT. WHEN JOHN WROTE THIS EPISTLE, LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAID. (1 John 5:13) “I HAVE WRITTEN TO YOU WHO BELIEVE IN THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD, IN ORDER THAT YOU MAY KNOW–” NOT HOPE SO, OR MAYBE, BUT KNOW BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THAT YOU POSSESS ETERNAL LIFE. NOW WE’VE SAID THAT ETERNAL LIFE NOT ONLY SPEAKS OF QUANTITY OF TIME, BUT OF A QUALITY OF TIME. THE QUANTITY OF TIME IS FOREVER AND EVER WITH OUR LORD. AND THE QUALITY OF THAT LIFE IS THAT IT IS A LIFE IN WHICH YOU AND I POSSESS THE VERY LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF. THAT’S WHAT SALVATION AND ETERNAL LIFE ARE ALL ABOUT. IT’S INTERESTING THAT NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE, THINK ABOUT THIS, NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY THAT WE HAVE THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE FOR SUCH A LENGTH OF TIME. NOWHERE DOES IT SAY THAT HE GIVES US ETERNAL LIFE “WHEN” OR RATHER, “IF.” OR THAT WE WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE “UNLESS,” AND WE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE “BUT.” RATHER, JESUS PUT IT THIS WAY, “MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, AND I KNOW THEM, AND THEY FOLLOW ME; AND I GIVE ETERNAL LIFE TO THEM, AND THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH.” HE SAYS, “I’M WRITING TO YOU THAT YOU MAY KNOW YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” FOR HOW LONG? NOWHERE IS THERE THE SLIGHTEST IMPLICATION BY ANYBODY WHO TALKS ABOUT ETERNAL LIFE THAT ATTACHES ANY QUESTION OR DOUBT AS TO HOW LONG ANYONE POSSESSES ETERNAL LIFE WHO HAS THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE. SO WE TALK ABOUT THIS WHOLE MATTER OF ETERNAL SECURITY. ONE OF THE QUESTIONS, IN FACT, THERE ARE MANY QUESTIONS THAT ARISE BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE QUESTION THE FACT THAT YOU CAN BE SAVED ONCE, FOREVER, ALWAYS, AND NEVER HAVE TO BE SAVED AGAIN. HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS THAT ARISE. “IF YOU CAN BE SAVED ONCE AND BE FOREVER SECURE, DOES THAT NOT GIVE YOU LICENSE TO SIN?” NO, IT DOES NOT. IT DOES NOT GIVE US A LICENSE TO SIN, BUT IT ALSO IS NOT A LOOPHOLE FOR SIN. JUST BECAUSE WE’RE SAVED FOREVER DOESN’T MEAN THAT WE WILL LIVE FOR THE DEVIL AND SAY, “AFTER ALL, I’M SAVED.” IT’S AMAZING HOW MANY PEOPLE BRING THIS UP: “IF A PERSON KNOWS THEY’RE SAVED, THEY CAN JUST LIVE LIKE THE DEVIL.” IF YOU KNOW THAT YOU’RE SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD AND THAT YOU’RE ETERNALLY SECURE, YOU CAN BE EQUALLY MOTIVATED, RATHER THAN SINNING, TO PRAISE, WORSHIP AND THANK GOD THAT WHEN HE SAVED YOU, HE SAVED YOU ONCE FOR ALL. YOU’RE FOREVER SECURE IN HIM. SO DON’T ALWAYS PUT THE EMPHASIS ON SOMEBODY GOING OUT AND LIVING LIKE THE DEVIL BECAUSE THEY’RE SAVED. MANY OF US PRAISE GOD THAT OUR SECURITY IS ETERNAL AND WE DON’T HAVE TO TAMPER WITH IT OR ADD TO IT. ONE OF THE OTHER QUESTIONS IS SOMETHING LIKE THIS: “WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE WARNINGS IN HEBREWS?” WE’LL COVER THAT IN THIS SERIES. SOMEBODY ELSE SAYS, “WHAT ABOUT VERSES THAT TALK ABOUT BEING BLOTTED OUT OF THE BOOKS?” WE’LL COME TO THOSE. SOMEBODY SAYS, “DOES THAT NOT MEAN THAT WE’RE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR ACTIONS AND BEHAVIOR IF WE’RE ETERNALLY SECURE?” NO, IT DOESN’T MEAN THAT. THE BIBLE SPEAKS OF DISCIPLINE AND CHASTISEMENT. IT SPEAKS OF BEING FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT AND WALKING UPRIGHTLY BEFORE GOD AND BEING OBEDIENT TO HIM. NOT THE SLIGHTEST IMPLICATION IN THE BIBLE GIVES US LICENSE TO SIN. OR THAT JUST BECAUSE WE KNOW WE’RE ETERNALLY SECURE, THAT WE WILL GO OUT AND DISOBEY GOD BECAUSE WE HAVE THIS SECURITY. ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS THAT ARISE, I UNDERSTAND WHY THEY’RE THERE AND WHERE THEY COME FROM. BUT THINK ABOUT IT. JUST BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT WE’RE ETERNALLY SECURE DOESN’T MEAN THAT WE HAVE THE ATTITUDE THAT NOW WE CAN GO OUT AND SIN. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT WHATEVER A MAN SOWS, HE WILL REAP– WHAT HE SOWS, MORE THAN HE SOWS, LATER THAN HE SOWS. ONE OF THE IMPLICATIONS IS THE FEAR THAT SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET AWAY WITH SIN AND NOT FEEL RESPONSIBLE TO GOD. ALL THESE QUESTIONS COME UP. WE’LL TRY TO ANSWER AS MANY OF THEM AS WE POSSIBLY CAN. NOW IF A PERSON KNOWS THAT THEY ARE ETERNALLY SECURE, IF SOMEONE KNOWS THAT THEY’RE ETERNALLY SECURE, IT AFFECTS MANY ASPECTS OF THEIR LIFE. WE ASK THE QUESTION, “DOES IT REALLY AND TRULY MATTER?” YES, IT DOES. IT ISN’T AN EXCUSE FOR SIN. IT’S A PLATFORM AND A FOUNDATION FOR EFFECTIVE, GODLY SERVICE IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WITH BLESSED ASSURANCE. THERE’S A POSITIVE SIDE TO WHAT JOHN IS SAYING WHEN HE SAYS, “I’M WRITING THESE THINGS THAT YOU MAY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” THAT LIFE IS FOREVER AND EVER AND IT’S NOT A LIFE BASED ON SOMETHING WE DO. NOW I WANT TO BE FAIR BY SAYING THAT THERE ARE TWO VIEWS OF BEING ABLE TO LOSE YOUR SALVATION ONCE YOU’RE SAVED. LET ME SAY ALSO THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD AND WHO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE SAVED, WHO DO BELIEVE THAT THEY CAN BE LOST. THEY BELIEVE WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT SALVATION BY GRACE AND NOT BY WORKS. THEY BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. THEY BELIEVE POSSIBLY MOST OF THE DOCTRINES WE BELIEVE. BUT FOR SOME REASON THEY DO NOT BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY. NOW THERE ARE TWO VIEWS OF THAT. ONE OF THEM IS THIS: SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN BE LOST IF YOU WALK AWAY FROM YOUR FAITH. THAT IS, IF YOU TURN AWAY FROM THE CHRISTIAN FAITH AND SAY, “I NO LONGER BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST; I GO BACK TO MY OLD LIFE–” THEY BELIEVE THAT WE CAN ALLOW FOR SIN. A PERSON ISN’T LOST AGAIN JUST BECAUSE THEY SIN. BUT IF THEY REPUDIATE THEIR FAITH, IF THEY TURN AWAY FROM IT AND FROM GOD, INDEED, THEY WILL BE LOST. ■ ON THE OTHER HAND THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN FALL FROM GRACE AND LOSE YOUR SALVATION. IF YOU ASK THEM, “ON WHAT BASIS CAN YOU LOSE YOUR SALVATION?–” MOST OF THE TIME THEY’RE FOGGY. THAT IS, THEY CAN’T TELL YOU EXACTLY WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO BE LOST. THEY JUST KNOW THAT SOMEHOW IF OUR BEHAVIOR, OUR CONDUCT IS NOT RIGHT– THEY USE REASON. BECAUSE IT’S NOT BIBLICAL. MOST OF THE TIME IT’S THEIR REASONING. IT’S THINKING SOMETHING LIKE THIS: “WE KNOW THAT GOD IS THE GOD OF MERCY, BUT AFTER ALL, GOD’S PATIENCE RUNS OUT AT SOME POINT. WHEN GOD’S PATIENCE RUNS OUT, HIS HOLINESS TAKES OVER. AND WHEN HIS HOLINESS TAKES OVER, HE WIPES YOU OUT AND YOU’RE NO LONGER SAVED.” THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THAT IS, IT’S NOT BIBLICAL. BECAUSE THE MERCY OF GOD IS APPLIED TO A SINNER, WHEREBY THAT PERSON BECOMES A CHILD OF GOD. THE MERCY OF GOD NEVER RUNS OUT. BECAUSE IT IS THE GRACE OF GOD. AND THE GRACE OF GOD IS THE UNMERITED FAVOR AND LOVE EXHIBITED TOWARD US, UNCONDITIONALLY. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY CONDUCT. MY CONDUCT IS WHAT I WANT TO DO BECAUSE I HAVE TRUSTED JESUS CHRIST AS MY SAVIOR AND I KNOW MY RELATIONSHIP TO HIM. I WANT TO BE FAIR TO SAY THAT THERE ARE TWO SIDES TO THIS ISSUE AMONG THOSE WHO BELIEVE YOU CAN FALL FROM GRACE. SOME SAY, “WE CAN ALLOW FOR SIN, AS LONG AS YOU DON’T TURN AWAY FROM THE CHRISTIAN FAITH.” AND THOSE ON THE OTHER SIDE SAY, “IF YOU SIN AGAINST GOD–” “WHICH SIN?” “NOT SURE WHICH SIN.” “HOW MANY SINS?” “NOT SURE HOW MANY.” “HOW LONG?” “NOT SURE HOW LONG.” THIS IS HOW THEY THINK: “SURELY, SOMEWHERE OUT THERE, GOD WON’T PUT UP WITH ANYMORE OF THAT.” NOW ALL OF US HAVE PROBABLY FELT LIKE THIS: “WELL, GOD, HOW LONG WILL YOU PUT UP WITH THIS?” YET THAT IS THE GRACE OF GOD. THINK ABOUT HOW PATIENT HE IS. FOR EXAMPLE, IT TOOK SOME OF YOU A LONG TIME TO GET SAVED. HOW PATIENT, LOVING AND GRACIOUS GOD WAS TO YOU. WHEN WE EXAMINE THE WHOLE IDEA OF ETERNAL SECURITY, BE SURE THAT WHAT YOU BELIEVE IS NOT BASED ON WHAT YOU FEEL, HOW YOU REASON, WHAT YOU THINK, HOW YOU WOULD RESPOND IF YOU WERE GOD, BUT RATHER ON WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES. ETERNAL LIFE IS NEVER-ENDING, FOREVER LIFE. IT IS A QUALITY OF LIFE BECAUSE IT IS THE GIFT OF THE PERSON OF JESUS. IT IS FOREVER BECAUSE THAT’S THE ONLY WAY GOD GIVES EVERLASTING LIFE. “MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, I KNOW THEM AND THEY FOLLOW ME; AND I GIVE THEM ETERNAL LIFE, AND THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH.” HE DIDN’T SAY, “UNLESS” OR “IF.” HE DIDN’T SAY, “EXCEPT” OR “BUT.” HE SAID, “NEVER PERISH.” IT IS A LIFE THAT KNOWS NO END. IT IS NOT A LIFE THAT IS BASED ON CONDITIONS. SO THE QUESTION COMES, “DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHETHER WE BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY OR NOT?” YES, IT DOES. AND I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE YOU SEVERAL THINGS THAT ARE VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE EACH OF THESE IS AFFECTED BY WHETHER I BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY OR NOT. THE FIRST ONE IS THIS: THE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION. HOW CAN ANYONE HAVE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION IF THAT SALVATION IS BASED ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS CHRIST AT CALVARY? I REPEAT SOME OF THESE THINGS DELIBERATELY BECAUSE I WANT THEM TO GET INTO YOUR MIND, INTO YOUR THINKING SO THAT YOU NEVER THINK OF SALVATION APART FROM THE CROSS. ANY MESSAGE ON SALVATION THAT IGNORES THE CROSS, THAT IGNORES THE BLOOD OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST HAS SOMETHING MISSING. WHAT IS MISSING IS THE VERY FOUNDATION OF THE MESSAGE. SALVATION IS THE RESULT OF THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS WHEREBY HE PAID OUR SIN DEBT IN FULL. NOW BY ETERNAL SECURITY– IF I DO NOT BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY, THEN I HAVE TO ASK, “WHAT IS MY SALVATION BASED ON?” IF IT IS BASED FULLY ON WHAT JESUS DID, THEN I SHOULDN’T HAVE A PROBLEM. BUT ANYTIME I INVOLVE A QUESTION AS TO WHAT THAT SALVATION IS BASED ON, THEN I HAVE A RIGHT TO DOUBT MY ETERNAL SECURITY. YOU SEE, IT IS A “KNOW-SO” SALVATION. JOHN SAYS, “THESE THINGS I HAVE WRITTEN THAT YOU MAY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” HE DIDN’T LIVE IN THE SAME TOWN WITH THESE FOLKS WHEN HE WROTE THEM. BUT HE SAID, “IF YOU’VE RECEIVED JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR, I WANT YOU TO KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT THAT YOU’VE BEEN SAVED.” NOW LOOK IN I JOHN CHAPTER TWO. HE SAYS IN THIS FIRST VERSE. (1 John 2:1-2) “MY LITTLE CHILDREN, I AM WRITING THESE THINGS TO YOU THAT YOU MAY NOT SIN–” I’M WRITING SO THAT YOU’LL KNOW HOW TO WALK IN THE FAITH. “–AND IF ANYONE SINS, WE HAVE AN ADVOCATE–” OR ONE WHO PLEADS OUR CASE “–WITH THE FATHER, JESUS CHRIST THE RIGHTEOUS; AND HE…IS THE PROPITIATION–” THE ATONING SACRIFICE “–FOR OUR SINS; AND NOT FOR OURS ONLY, BUT ALSO FOR THOSE OF THE WHOLE WORLD.” WHEN BELIEVERS SIN AGAINST GOD, HE DOES NOT CAST US OUT. LISTEN, HE IS THE ONLY SACRIFICE THAT WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE IN THE EYES OF THE FATHER. AND HE PAID OUR SIN DEBT IN FULL. SO WHEN SOMEBODY SAYS, “DOES IT MATTER WHETHER I BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY OR NOT?” INDEED, IT DOES. HERE’S WHAT YOU HAVE TO ASK: “WHAT IS THE BASIS OF MY ASSURANCE OF SALVATION? WHAT IS THE BASIS OF MY ASSURANCE IF I DON’T BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY?” IF IT’S POSSIBLE TO BE SAVED AND THEN LOST, HOW WOULD YOU EVER REALLY BE SURE? BECAUSE IF IT’S POSSIBLE TO SIN AGAINST GOD AFTER YOU’RE SAVED, AND EVERYBODY DOES AT SOME POINT, WILL YOU EVER BE ABLE TO HAVE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION IF IT IS BASED ON ANYTHING ELSE? IF IT’S BASED SOLELY ON THE WORK OF CHRIST, NOT OUR PERFORMANCE, THEN I CAN BE ETERNALLY SECURE. BUT IF IT IS EVER BASED ON ANY WORK OR ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO, I CAN’T EVER BE SURE. I MAY NOT HAVE DONE IT RIGHT, OR DONE ENOUGH OF IT, OR DONE IT LONG ENOUGH. SO OUR ASSURANCE OF SALVATION– JOHN SAYS, “THESE THINGS I’M WRITING THAT YOU MAY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” A 2ND REASON IT MATTERS IS THIS: THE QUESTION OF GOD’S FORGIVENESS IS AT STAKE OVER THIS MATTER OF ETERNAL SECURITY. WHEN JESUS CHRIST DIED ON THE CROSS, HOW MUCH SIN DID HE DIE FOR? THE BIBLE SAYS, “HE DIED–” JOHN JUST SAID IT IN THE 2ND CHAPTER. HE SAYS, “HE WAS THE SACRIFICE FOR OUR SINS. NOT ONLY FOR OURS, BUT FOR THOSE OF THE WHOLE WORLD.” LOOK AT THAT. THAT MEANS ALL THE SIN OF ALL MANKIND. HE DIED FOR ALL THE SINS OF PEOPLE YET TO BE SAVED. HE DIED FOR THE SINS OF THOSE WHO WILL NEVER BE SAVED. THE IDEA THAT JESUS’ DEATH HAD THE LIMITATIONS TO APPLY ONLY TO THOSE WHO WOULD BE SAVED, IS NOT SCRIPTURAL. “GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” JOHN SAYS IN THIS PASSAGE THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED, THAT HE IS THE SACRIFICE, NOT ONLY FOR OUR SINS, BUT FOR THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD. NOW IF THAT BE TRUE, WHEN JESUS DIED, WHAT SIN DID HE PAY FOR? THINK ABOUT IT. DID HE ONLY PAY FOR THOSE SINS I COMMIT BEFORE MY SALVATION? WE WOULD AGREE THAT’S NOT TRUE. HE PAID FOR OUR SINS, NATURALLY, BEFORE WE WERE SAVED AND HE PAID FOR SINS AFTER WE WERE SAVED. THEN IF HE PAID FOR ALL OF MY SIN– PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE– WHAT CAN I DO TO BE LOST AFTER I AM SAVED IF JESUS CHRIST PAID MY SIN DEBT IN FULL? ALL OF OUR SINS WERE FUTURE. SOMEONE SAYS, “BUT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT FUTURE SIN.” ALL OF YOUR SIN IS FUTURE TO THE CROSS. JESUS DIED 2,000 YEARS AGO. WHEN HE DIED, THE FATHER, WHO SEES ALL TIME IN ONE GLIMPSE, PLACED ALL OF THE SIN OF ALL MANKIND UPON CHRIST. NOW LET’S CLEAR THIS UP IN CASE YOU HAVE A QUESTION. SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT BECAUSE JESUS DIED FOR THE SIN OF THE WHOLE WORLD, EVERYBODY WILL, ULTIMATELY, BE SAVED. NO. “BUT AS MANY AS RECEIVED HIM, TO THEM ONLY DID HE GIVE THE RIGHT TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD. BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED.” HE DIDN’T SAY, “FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, HE SAVED EVERYONE.” OR, “GOD GAVE HIS ONLY SON, THEREFORE SAVING EVERYONE.” NO. “GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WOULD NOT PERISH.” WHAT SEPARATES US FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD IS VERY SIMPLE, BUT PROFOUND: PLACING OUR TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST’S DEATH AT CALVARY AND RECEIVING HIM PERSONALLY AS THE FORGIVENESS FOR OUR SIN. IF I CAN BE LOST AFTER I’M SAVED, WHAT HAPPENED TO SOME SIN OUT THERE THAT DIDN’T GET ON THE CROSS? LISTEN, IF JESUS CHRIST PAID MY SIN DEBT IN FULL, HOW MANY TIMES WOULD JESUS HAVE TO DIE FOR THE SAME SIN? SURELY YOU KNOW THE ANSWER. HOW MANY TIMES WOULD JESUS HAVE TO DIE FOR THE SAME SIN? (Audience says, “Once.”) IF ALL OF YOUR SIN WAS PLACED UPON JESUS CHRIST AT CALVARY, HOW MUCH SIN DID HE DIE FOR? (Audience says, “All of it.”) SO HE PAID YOUR SIN DEBT IN FULL– ALL OF IT– BEFORE YOU WERE SAVED, AFTER YOU WERE SAVED. HE PAID THE WHOLE DEBT. IF JESUS HAS PAID YOUR SIN DEBT IN FULL, WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO? HAVING RECEIVED HIM AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR, HAVING BECOME A CHILD OF GOD, WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO TO ATONE FOR SIN AFTER YOU ARE SAVED? YOU CAN’T PAY FOR IT. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR IT? YOU CAN’T PAY FOR IT BY WORKS. BECAUSE HE SAYS, “NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAVE DONE, BUT ACCORDING TO HIS MERCY HE SAVED US.” LISTEN, YOU DIDN’T DO ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR SIN TO GET SAVED. YOU CONFESSED TO CHRIST THAT YOU WERE A SINNER AND YOU RECEIVED THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR. I WANT TO SAY THIS AGAIN, REPEAT IT TO MAKE IT CLEAR. YOUR REPENTANCE OVER SIN DIDN’T GET YOU SAVED. REPENTANCE IS A CHANGE OF MIND. REPENTANCE AND FAITH GO HAND IN HAND, BUT ONLY IN THIS FASHION: BY FAITH WE PLACE OUR TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF OUR SIN. REPENTANCE FITS ONLY IN THIS FASHION: IT IS A CHANGE OF MIND. I CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT JESUS CHRIST AND, THEREBY, PLACE MY TRUST IN HIM ALONE FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF MY SIN. REPENTANCE OVER SIN IS WHAT I DO AFTER I’M SAVED. REPENTANCE AFTER I’M SAVED DOESN’T GET ME FORGIVENESS. REPENTANCE OVER SIN AFTER I’M SAVED MAKES MY RELATIONSHIP, OR RATHER MY FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM RIGHT. BECAUSE ONCE HE DIED FOR ALL MY SIN, I CAN’T DO SOMETHING TO GET MORE FORGIVENESS. LISTEN, YOU CAN’T HAVE ANY MORE FORGIVENESS THAN YOU HAVE NOW. BECAUSE WHEN JESUS DIED, HE DIED FOR ALL OF OUR SIN. IT’S AMAZING HOW MANY TIMES WE SING THIS, “JESUS PAID IT ALL, ALL TO HIM I OWE.” IF HE PAID IT ALL, WHAT AM I DOING TRYING TO PAY IT? IT DOES MATTER WHETHER I BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY OR NOT. IT AFFECTS MY ASSURANCE OF SALVATION AND UNDERSTANDING OF GOD’S FORGIVENESS. THE 3RD THING THAT IT AFFECTS IS THIS: THE IDEA OF SALVATION BY FAITH. LISTEN, IF SALVATION IS BY ANYTHING MORE THAN FAITH, THEN WORKS MUST BE INTERJECTED. IF WORKS ARE INTERJECTED INTO MY SALVATION EXPERIENCE, I AM NO LONGER ETERNALLY SECURE FOR THIS REASON: WHAT WORKS; HOW MANY WORKS; SUPPOSE I FAIL TO WORK; HOW MUCH WORK MUST I DO? HOW CAN I HAVE ANY ASSURANCE, IF I BELIEVE THAT ANY WORK IS INVOLVED IN SALVATION? THIS IS WHY PAUL SAID ON MANY OCCASIONS IN EPHESIANS, AS WE MENTIONED BEFORE– BUT TURN TO GALATIANS CHAPTER 2. BECAUSE PROBABLY NOWHERE DOES HE MAKE IT CLEARER THAN HE DOES HERE. MY SALVATION, THAT IS, SALVATION BY FAITH CANNOT INVOLVE WORKS. HERE’S WHAT HAPPENS. IF WE INVOLVE HUMAN WORKS IN SALVATION– LISTEN CAREFULLY. IF WE INVOLVE HUMAN WORKS IN SALVATION, THE CROSS WAS NOT ENOUGH. THE CROSS WAS NOT ENOUGH. THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST WAS NOT ENOUGH. WE CAN’T SAY, “THE SACRIFICIAL, ALL-SUFFICIENT, ATONING DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST PAID OUR SIN DEBT IN FULL.” WE WOULD HAVE TO ADD, “AND–” SOMETHING THAT WE DO. IN THE 2ND CHAPTER OF GALATIANS, HE SAYS– (Galatians 2:16) “NEVERTHELESS KNOWING–” NOT “THINKING” “–KNOWING THAT A MAN IS NOT JUSTIFIED–” OR “DECLARED NOT GUILTY.” IT’S ANOTHER WORD FOR SALVATION. A MAN IS NO LONGER GUILTY. A MAN IS NOT SAVED BY WORKS OF THE LAW. THAT IS, YOU CAN’T KEEP THE TEN COMMANDMENTS AND GET SAVED; CAN’T TEACH OR PREACH AND GET SAVED; CAN’T SHARE YOUR FAITH AND GET SAVED. YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING TO GET SAVED, BUT TRUST IN JESUS ALONE. (Galatians 2:16) “NEVERTHELESS KNOWING THAT A MAN IS NOT JUSTIFIED BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW BUT THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS, EVEN WE HAVE BELIEVED IN CHRIST JESUS, THAT WE MAY BE JUSTIFIED BY FAITH IN CHRIST, AND NOT BY WORKS OF THE LAW; SINCE BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW SHALL NO FLESH BE JUSTIFIED.” FRIEND, I DON’T KNOW HOW IT CAN GET ANY PLAINER THAN THAT. IT CAN’T GET ANY PLAINER THAN WHAT PAUL SAYS IN GALATIANS. HE SAYS, “ABSOLUTELY NO WORKS.” LISTEN, IF KEEPING THE TEN COMMANDMENTS WON’T GET YOU SAVED, WHAT ELSE WILL GET YOU SAVED EXCEPT FAITH IN JESUS? IF THERE’S ANY WAY TO INTERJECT ANY KIND OF WORK INTO OUR SALVATION WHEN WE GET TO HEAVEN, WE’RE GOING TO ASK FOR BRAGGING RIGHTS: “GOD, YOU SAVED ME, BUT LOOK WHAT I DID.” WHEN WE GET TO HEAVEN AND STAND BEFORE HIM, THERE’S NOT ONE SINGLE, SOLITARY THING THAT WE CAN BOAST OF OTHER THAN JESUS CHRIST. BY GOD’S GRACE, WE’LL GET THERE. BY THE ATONING DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST, OUR SIN DEBT HAS BEEN PAID IN FULL. WE’LL STAND BEFORE HIM IN THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF JESUS CHRIST. IT HAS NOTHING TO WITH WHAT I’VE DONE; IT HAS TO DO WITH WHO HE IS. THAT’S WHAT SALVATION IS ABOUT. MANY OF YOU WHO SIT IN CHURCH EVERY WEEK LISTENING TO SERMONS AND BELIEVE THAT YOU WILL BE ACCEPTABLE BEFORE GOD BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT AS BAD AS OTHERS, AND BECAUSE YOU DO GOOD THINGS– THERE’S NOT A SINGLE THING YOU CAN DO TO BE SAVED EXCEPT TO EXPRESS YOUR TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF YOUR SIN. NOW HERE’S THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT ALL OF US HAVE A LITTLE PRIDE PROBLEM. WE HAVE IT IN DIFFERENT LEVELS. THERE’S SOMETHING WITHIN MAN– THINK ABOUT IT– THAT MAKES HIM WANT TO DO SOMETHING TO DESERVE SOMETHING. ISN’T THAT TRUE? THERE’S SOMETHING INSIDE OF US THAT WANTS TO DO SOMETHING TO DESERVE A LITTLE SOMETHING. FRIEND, WHEN YOU STAND BEFORE JESUS, YOU DESERVE NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THERE’S NOT A THING YOU CAN DO. THIS IS ONE REASON MANY PEOPLE WILL NOT ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST. THEY SAY, “WAIT A MINUTE. YOU MEAN THAT I DON’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING?” MEANING THIS: THEY DON’T HAVE TO JOIN THIS AND DO THAT. YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING. NOW ONCE YOU’RE SAVED, THERE ARE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BELIEVER. MANY EXPECTATIONS, INDEED. THIS IS NOT AN EASY LIFE. NOBODY WILL TELL YOU, “JUST GET SAVED AND FLOAT TO GLORY.” NO, THAT’S NOT WHAT IT IS. THERE ARE TRIALS AND TEMPTATIONS AND HEARTACHES AND BURDENS AND LABOR AND TRIBULATIONS, INDEED. BUT BEING SAVED HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR WORK. LISTEN, I HATE TO TELL IT THIS WAY, BUT IT’S PURE PRIDE FOR YOU TO SAY, “I DON’T BELIEVE YOU CAN BE SAVED JUST BY FAITH. YOU’VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING.” THAT IS YOUR OLD FLESH SAYING, “LISTEN, I DON’T EXPECT GOD TO DO THAT FOR ME FOR NOTHING.” I’VE HAD PEOPLE SAY THAT. “DO YOU MEAN THAT ALL I HAVE TO DO IS TRUST HIM?” RIGHT! AND EVEN AFTER YOU EXPLAIN THAT BELIEVING ON HIM MEANS TO PLACE YOUR TRUST IN HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS FOR THE ATONEMENT OF YOUR SINS, THEY SAY, “NO, YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ELSE.” MY FRIEND, WHAT CAN YOU DO? IF JESUS PAID IT ALL, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO ADD– LISTEN– WHAT DO YOU ADD TO “ALL”? LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION. SUPPOSE YOU OWED SOMEONE $1000. SAY YOU OWE THE BANK $1000. YOU GO DOWN TO THE BANK TO MAKE A PAYMENT. YOU WANT TO MAKE A $100 PAYMENT ON YOUR $1000 DEBT. YOU WALK IN AND GO TO THE TELLER. THE TELLER SAYS, “I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS. SOMEBODY HAS PAID YOUR DEBT.” “PAID MY DEBT?” “IT’S STAMPED ‘PAID IN FULL.'” LET ME ASK YOU, HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD ARGUE AND SAY, “BUT I WANT TO PAY $500 MORE ON THAT”? (Audience laughs) NOT A ONE OF YOU. YOU’RE GOING TO SAY, “PRAISE THE LORD, (Clap) HALLELUJAH! GLORY TO GOD. I AM FREE OF THE DEBT.” BUT THIS SAME PERSON SAYS, “DO YOU MEAN THAT JESUS HAS PAID MY SIN DEBT IN FULL?” “HE PAID IT IN FULL.” “I DON’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING? I CAN’T ACCEPT THAT.” YET THAT SAME PERSON WILL WALK OUT OF THE BANK REJOICING. YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS? PURE HUMAN PRIDE. YOU CAN’T ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ARE HELPLESS. THAT’S THE PROBLEM. THAT’S THE KEY RIGHT THERE. IT IS PURE PRIDE: “I’M NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT THE FACT THAT I CAN DO NOTHING IN THE PRESENCE OF A HOLY GOD, WHO SEES ALL MY GOOD WORKS AS STINKING, ROTTEN, REJECTED RAGS.” BROTHER, THAT IS A TOUGH DOSE OF MEDICINE FOR A MAN TO TAKE WHO IS FULL OF PRIDE. THEY JUST CAN’T HANDLE IT. “I DON’T BELIEVE THAT. YOU’VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING.” SO THEY JOIN A CHURCH WHERE SOMEBODY SAYS, “DO YOU WANT TO BE SAVED? DO THE FOLLOWING THINGS–” IT DEVELOPS A SENSE OF LEGALISM. “IF I’M GOING TO BE SAVED, I’VE GOT TO DO THE FOLLOWING–” YOU KNOW WHAT THAT DOES? IT SATISFIES THE FLESH. IT IS JUST AS FLESHLY AS CAN BE. IT IS PURE PRIDE THAT INSISTS: “I’VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING.” GOD SAYS, “NOT ONLY ARE YOU NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING, YOU CAN’T.” NOW LET ME ASK YOU, HOW MANY OF YOU LOVE TO FEEL HELPLESS? NONE OF US DO. HOW MANY OF YOU LOVE TO FEEL THAT THINGS ARE TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL? NOT ANY OF US. MY FRIEND, WHEN IT COMES TO OUR SIN, WE COME TO JESUS AS SINNERS, UNSAVED, HELPLESS, (Clap) HOPELESS, (Clap). THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO BUT BE THE RECIPIENT OF GOD’S GRACE. I WANT TO ASK YOU: IS THE PROBLEM IN YOUR HEART PRIDE? IN YOUR PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE, IS THE VERY IDEA THAT YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING TO MERIT GOD’S FORGIVENESS OR GET GOD TO LOVE YOU, THAT YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING TO GET GOD TO RECOGNIZE YOU– IS THAT OBNOXIOUS TO YOU? MORE THAN LIKELY IT IS. IF SO, REMEMBER THAT THE REAL PROBLEM IS PRIDE. YOU SEE, GRACE IS A GIFT. SALVATION IS A GIFT. LISTEN, IF YOU ADD ONE WORK TO SALVATION, IT’S NO LONGER A GIFT, IT IS PAYMENT FOR SERVICES RENDERED. I’M HERE TO TELL YOU, WHEN WE STAND BEFORE GOD, HE WON’T BE DISHING OUT ANYTHING AS PAYMENT IN RETURN FOR SERVICES RENDERED. WE STAND AS OBJECTS OF THE GRACE OF A LOVING GOD. INDEED, IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHETHER I BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY OR NOT. BECAUSE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF SALVATION BY FAITH AND NOT BY WORKS. NOW ANOTHER AREA WHERE WE HAVE A QUESTION OF ETERNAL SECURITY– I BELIEVE A PERSON WOULD HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME– NOW LET ME QUALIFY THIS. NOT EVERY PERSON, BUT MANY WOULD HAVE A VERY DIFFICULT TIME SHARING THEIR FAITH, WITNESSING IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, IF THEY WERE NOT CERTAIN THAT THEY ARE ETERNALLY SECURE. A PERSON CAN BE SAVED AND SURE OF THEIR SALVATION AND PREACH THE GOSPEL, TEACH THE WORD OF GOD, AND DO IT EFFECTIVELY. THAT’S NOT TRUE OF EVERYBODY. THERE ARE SOME GODLY MEN WHO BELIEVE GOD’S WORD WHO DON’T BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY. THEY ARE PREACHING THE GOSPEL AND PEOPLE ARE BEING SAVED. I’M NOT PUTTING EVERYONE IN THAT CATEGORY UNDER ANY CONDITION. BUT FOR MANY PEOPLE, ONE REASON THEY WILL NOT SERVE GOD OR CANNOT SHARE THEIR FAITH WITH CONFIDENCE, IS: THEY’RE NOT SURE OF THEIR OWN SALVATION. THEY’RE NOT ETERNALLY SECURE. LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION. WHAT DO YOU SAY TO SOMEONE YOU WITNESS TO, WHO IS UNSAVED? YOU WANT TO SEE THAT PERSON GIVE THEIR LIFE TO CHRIST. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO THEM? WHEN YOU TELL THEM HOW TO BE SAVED, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY? I HOPE YOU WOULD GIVE THEM THE PROPER EXPLANATION: “SALVATION IS DELIVERANCE FROM ETERNAL DEATH. IT IS THE POSSESSION OF ETERNAL LIFE, WHICH COMES AS A RESULT OF PLACING OUR TRUST IN JESUS, THE SON OF GOD, WHO DIED ON THE CROSS AND PAID OUR SIN DEBT IN FULL, AND THE MOMENT WE PLACE OUR TRUST IN HIM, HE CLEANSES US FROM OUR SIN. WE ARE DELIVERED AND HE BECOMES OUR SAVIOR.” LET’S SAY THAT YOU EXPLAINED THAT TO THEM. SO THEY SAY, “I BELIEVE THAT’S WHAT I NEED, TO BE FORGIVEN OF MY SIN. I NEED TO GET MY LIFE CLEANED UP AND THINGS STRAIGHTENED OUT.” AND YOU EXPLAIN, “YOU’RE NOT CLEANING UP YOUR LIFE, YOU ARE PLACING YOUR TRUST IN JESUS, RECEIVING HIS FORGIVENESS. HE PAID YOUR SIN DEBT IN FULL. REPENTANCE OF SINS IS SOMETHING YOU DO AFTER YOU PLACE YOUR TRUST IN HIM, BECAUSE HE’S PAID YOUR SIN DEBT IN FULL.” “OKAY, I UNDERSTAND THAT.” SUPPOSE THEY SAY TO YOU, “LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION. IF I PLACE MY TRUST IN JESUS TODAY, WILL I BE SAVED NOW?” “YES, YOU WILL.” “HOW LONG AM I SAVED FOR?” IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY? THAT WOULD BE A TOUGH QUESTION, WOULDN’T IT? WOULD YOU SAY, “YOU’RE SAVED AS LONG AS YOU–” WELL YOU CAN’T MENTION WORKS. “YOU’RE SAVED AS LONG AS–” THAT’S A TOUGH QUESTION TO ANSWER. “IF I GIVE MY LIFE TO CHRIST RIGHT NOW, HOW LONG WILL I BE SAVED?” IF SOMEBODY OFFERED YOU THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST AND THEY EXPLAINED VERY CLEARLY HOW TO BE SAVED– THEY SAID, “HERE’S HOW TO TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND. HERE’S HOW TO GET YOUR LIFE CHANGED. GOD WILL DO IT THROUGH THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST. THIS IS THE ONLY STEP YOU MUST TAKE TO BE SAVED. THEN THE SPIRIT OF GOD WORKS IN YOUR HEART. THE CLEAN-UP JOB IS HIS WORK.” LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION. SAY YOU ASKED THAT PERSON, “HOW LONG AM I SAVED?” IF THEY SAID ANYTHING OTHER THAN “FOR ETERNITY,” WHAT WOULD YOUR RESPONSE BE? WHAT IF THEY SAID, “YOU ARE SAVED AS LONG AS YOU OBEY GOD.” THINK ABOUT THIS. AS A PERSON WHO IS JUST GETTING READY TO BE SAVED, WHO HAS LIVED IN DISOBEDIENCE AND SIN FOR YEARS– “AS LONG AS I OBEY GOD? WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN IF I SIN AFTER I’M SAVED?” “GOD WILL FORGIVE YOU.” “HOW MANY TIMES?” IN OTHER WORDS, MY FRIEND, THERE ARE SO MANY LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS THAT A PERSON HAS A RIGHT TO ASK. IF YOU CAN’T SAY TO THAT PERSON, “ONCE YOU PLACE YOUR TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SIN– HE PAID YOUR SIN DEBT IN FULL, PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. YOU CAN’T EVER DO ANYTHING THAT WILL MAKE YOU LOST AGAIN. YOU’RE ETERNALLY SECURE. THAT IS THE WORK OF GOD. THE WORK OF GOD IN WHICH HE GUARANTEES THAT SALVATION, ONCE RECEIVED, IS POSSESSED FOREVER AND CANNOT BE LOST. YOU’RE TO LIVE A GODLY LIFE, BE OBEDIENT TO GOD, WALK IN THE SPIRIT, PRAY AND READ THE BIBLE. YOU’RE TO BE BAPTIZED, GO TO CHURCH, SHARE YOUR FAITH. MANY THINGS. BUT NONE OF THAT WILL GET YOU SAVED. WHEN YOU’RE SAVED, YOU’RE SAVED FOREVER.” LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE, IS ONE THING. BEING SAVED IS SOMETHING ELSE. HOW LONG ARE YOU’RE SAVED? FOREVER. HOW LONG WILL YOU BE OBEDIENT? ONLY YOU CAN DECIDE THAT. HOW LONG ARE YOU SAVED? FOREVER. WHAT ABOUT WHEN YOU DISOBEY GOD? WE CAN ANSWER THAT. BUT HOW DO YOU ANSWER A PERSON WHO SAYS, “IF I TRUST JESUS CHRIST AS MY SAVIOR AND TURN EVERYTHING OVER TO HIM: ‘LORD, HERE’S MY LIFE.’ HOW LONG AM I GUARANTEED FORGIVENESS?” IF YOU CANNOT SAY, “FOR ETERNITY,” WHAT WILL YOU SAY? YOU HAVE TO PUT A TIME LIMIT ON IT OR AN ACTION LIMIT ON IT: “UNTIL–” AND LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION. HOW MANY OF YOU RECEIVED JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR BY SOMEONE SHARING PERSONALLY WITH YOU? IF THEY HAD SAID TO YOU, “I DON’T KNOW HOW LONG YOU ARE SAVED FOR. YOU’RE GIVEN THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE.” “HOW LONG DOES THAT LAST?” “I’M NOT SURE HOW LONG.” HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD HAVE ACCEPTED JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR? IF SOMEBODY HAD SAID THAT TO ME, I WOULD’VE SAID, “IF I DON’T KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL LAST– YOU SAY THAT I HAVE ETERNAL LIFE, BUT YOU CAN’T TELL ME FOR HOW LONG. THEN HOW DO I KNOW HOW LONG I CAN HAVE IT?” MY FRIEND, THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF CONFIDENCE, ASSURANCE, SHARING AND SERVING THE LORD– HOW CAN I, WITH BOLDNESS AND JOY AND WITH ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE SAY TO A PERSON, “YOU CAN BE SAVED UNTIL–“? THE MOMENT I DO THAT, I INTERJECT WORKS INTO GOD’S REDEMPTIVE PLAN AND I CANCEL THE WHOLE DEAL. IT IS NO LONGER BY GRACE ALONE. IT IS NO LONGER BY FAITH ALONE. ANYTIME I INTERJECT ANYTHING INTO THE GRACE OF GOD AND HIS REDEMPTION THROUGH THE CROSS, THE FULL ATONING DEATH OF CHRIST FOR MY SIN, I’VE INTERJECTED WORKS INTO THE ISSUE. SOMEWHERE ALONG THE WAY IT IS NO LONGER BY FAITH. TURN BACK TO GALATIANS. I WANT YOU TO GET THIS IN YOUR HEART. GALATIANS CHAPTER TWO. (Galatians 2:16) “NEVERTHELESS KNOWING THAT A MAN IS NOT JUSTIFIED–” HE IS NOT SAVED, OR DECLARED “NOT GUILTY.” HE IS NOT BROUGHT INTO SALVATION OR JUSTIFIED BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW. THERE’S NOTHING HE CAN DO. “–BUT THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS, EVEN WE HAVE BELIEVED IN CHRIST JESUS, THAT WE MAY BE JUSTIFIED BY FAITH IN CHRIST, AND NOT BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW; SINCE BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW SHALL NO FLESH BE JUSTIFIED.” HERE IS PART OF THE PROBLEM. LISTEN CAREFULLY. WE FAIL TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN SALVATION BY FAITH ALONE, AND OUR CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOR AFTER WE’RE SAVED. I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR. IF WE DISOBEY GOD, WE SUFFER THE PENALTY. THIS IS NOT CHEAP GRACE. IT ISN’T CHEAP SALVATION. JESUS CHRIST WAS STRETCHED OUT ON THE CROSS, HIS HANDS WERE NAILED TO THAT CROSS AND HE BLED THERE. HE WAS SEPARATED FROM GOD IN THOSE MOMENTS AS HE SUFFERED ETERNAL SEPARATION FOR OUR SIN. THAT’S NOT CHEAP, AND CAN NEVER BE LABELED AS “CHEAP.” IF GOD DIED FOR MY SIN, HOW COULD IT EVER BE LABELED AS “CHEAP”? ETERNAL SECURITY SHOULD BE THE MOTIVATION FOR SERVICE AND DEVOTION TO GOD. WE HAVE THE MARVELOUS PRIVILEGE OF SAYING TO SOMEONE, “ONCE YOU HAVE PLACED YOUR TRUST IN JESUS, HE ATONES FOR YOUR SIN FOREVER AND EVER. YOUR SIN HAS BEEN ATONED FOR. YOU ARE FOREVER A CHILD OF GOD. YOU ARE NOW EQUIPPED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT TO SERVE HIM AND LIVE FOR HIM ALL YOUR LIFE.” THAT ISN’T LICENSE OR MOTIVATION FOR SIN. IT IS A TIME TO GLORIFY GOD IN GIVING OUR LIVES TO HIM. YET PEOPLE WHO ARE NEGATIVE ABOUT THE WHOLE CONCEPT KEEP BRINGING UP: “WELL SUPPOSE THIS, THAT AND THE OTHER.” WELL SUPPOSE YOU SERVE GOD ALL YOUR LIFE AND THANK HIM FOR IT? IT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY. THESE ARE QUESTIONS THAT THOSE WHO DON’T BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY NEED TO ASK. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS, BUT LET ME LIMIT IT TO ONE. DOES IT REALLY MATTER IF I’M ETERNALLY SECURE OR NOT? I CAN TELL YOU WHEN IT MATTERS. WHEN YOU ARE LYING (Clap) ON THE DEATHBED AND YOU KNOW THAT YOU ONLY HAVE DAYS OR HOURS TO LIVE. DO YOU THINK IT MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE AT ALL WHETHER YOUR SALVATION IS A “HOPE-SO” OR A “KNOW-SO”? AND I’VE TALKED TO FOLKS, SWEET PEOPLE WHO LOVE GOD, MAYBE MORE THAN I DO– I KNOW THAT THEY’RE SAVED. THEY KNOW THEY’RE SAVED, EXCEPT THEY SAY, “WELL–” YOU ASK, “DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE SAVED?” THEY SAY, “I HOPE SO.” “WHAT DID YOU DO TO BE SAVED?” THEY TELL ME THE RIGHT THING. “WELL WHY AREN’T YOU SURE?” “I DON’T THINK YOU CAN EVER KNOW. THAT’S PRESUMPTUOUS ON GOD. YOU’RE BEING PRESUMPTUOUS TO TELL ME THAT YOU KNOW YOU’RE SAVED. HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU’RE SAVED?” LISTEN, I’M NOT BEING CRITICAL. AS I SAY, THESE FOLKS LOVE GOD AS MUCH AS I DO, MAYBE MORE. BUT ISN’T IT TRAGIC TO LIVE YOUR WHOLE LIFE AND COME TO DEATH AND WONDER AND NOT BE SURE THAT YOUR LAST BREATH MEANS GLORY? HOW COULD YOU LIVE ALL OF YOUR LIFE IN DOUBT AND FEAR THAT ONCE YOU TAKE THAT LAST BREATH YOU’RE IN THE PRESENCE OF JESUS CHRIST? LISTEN, I’VE HAD PEOPLE SAY, “WHEN I GET LATER ON IN LIFE, I’LL BE SAVED.” THEY HAVE NO EARTHLY IDEA WHAT GOD’S ALL ABOUT. THEY HAVE NO EARTHLY IDEA WHAT LIVING AND GOD AND HIS PURPOSE FOR THEIR LIFE IS ABOUT. NO IDEA WHATSOEVER. GOD ISN’T WAITING FOR SOMEBODY TO DECIDE WHETHER TO ACCEPT HIM OR NOT. THAT’S NOT THE ISSUE. GOD CREATED US WITH A PURPOSE. HE CREATED US TO MAGNIFY HIMSELF AND TO GLORIFY HIMSELF AND TO LIVE HIS LIFE IN US. THE VERY IDEA THAT SOMEBODY WILL JUST FOOL AROUND IN LIFE UNTIL THEY GET SO OLD THEY CAN’T DO ANYTHING ELSE– THEY SAY, “WELL CAN’T HAVE ANYMORE FUN, SO I’LL GET SAVED.” THAT’S THEIR IDEA OF SALVATION. NO, THAT’S NOT IT. LET ME ASK THE FOLKS WHO WANT TO GET RIGHT WITH GOD ON THEIR DEATHBED. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU’LL SAY. “I’LL STRAIGHTEN UP SOME THINGS.” THAT WON’T GET YOU TO HEAVEN. “ON MY DEATHBED I’M SURE I’LL MAKE AMENDS FOR SOME THINGS.” THAT WON’T GET YOU TO HEAVEN. MY FRIEND, I WOULD HATE TO THINK THAT I WAS GOING TO DIE AND FACE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THE ONLY THING I HAD TO FACE HIM WITH WAS ON MY DEATHBED, I MADE SOME DECISIONS ABOUT THE WAY I USED TO LIVE. LISTEN, I’LL TELL YOU WHY THAT WON’T CUT IT. MY FRIEND, WHEN YOU GET READY TO DIE, YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING BUT STRAIGHTEN UP A FEW THINGS. YOU DON’T HAVE ANY CHOICE. BUT STRAIGHTENING THEM UP WON’T GET YOU TO HEAVEN. ONLY ONE THING WILL GET YOU TO HEAVEN, AND THAT’S PLACING YOUR TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST. LISTEN, YOU HAD BETTER REMEMBER THAT WHEN YOU LIVE YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR IN REBELLION TOWARD GOD IN SELF-CENTEREDNESS, DOING YOUR OWN THING, REJECTING AND REJECTING AND REJECTING– WHO SAYS THAT ON YOUR DEATHBED YOU’LL EVEN HAVE A DESIRE FOR GOD? THAT’S A PRESUMPTION ON YOUR PART. THAT IS VERY PRESUMPTUOUS TO THINK: “WELL WHEN I GET READY TO DIE, I’LL MAKE EVERYTHING RIGHT.” MY FRIEND, DO YOU REALIZE THAT UNLESS THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS YOU, YOU CANNOT BE SAVED? THE IDEA THAT YOU’LL GET SAVED WHEN YOU GET READY, ON YOUR TERMS, THAT YOU’LL STRAIGHTEN UP IN YOUR LAST MOMENTS AND GET RIGHT WITH GOD, IS TOTALLY UNSCRIPTURAL. AND I WANT TO REMIND YOU, THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO INTENDED TO DO THAT WHO DIED IN YESTERDAY’S ACCIDENT. THEY NEVER HAD A SPLIT SECOND TO CALL ON GOD OR ANYBODY ELSE. IT IS FOOLISH FOR A PERSON TO WAIT FOR “ONE OF THESE DAYS.” THAT’S WHY HE SAYS, “BEHOLD, TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION.” DOES IT MATTER WHETHER I BELIEVE IN ETERNAL SECURITY OR NOT? WHEN IT COMES TO DYING, IT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD. I WANT TO ASK YOU A QUESTION. DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU’RE SAVED? ARE YOU SURE THAT YOU’RE SAVED? ARE YOU SURE THAT YOU ARE ETERNALLY SECURE IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD? IF NOT, I WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF AND WITH GOD, AND CONFESS TO HIM THAT YOU’VE SINNED AGAINST HIM, THEN PLACE YOUR TRUST IN HIM. HE SAYS, “BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED.” TELL HIM, “I AM PLACING MY TRUST IN YOU, LORD JESUS, THAT YOUR DEATH AT CALVARY PAID MY SIN DEBT IN FULL. NOW BY FAITH, I RECEIVE YOU AS MY SAVIOR. I TRUST THAT ALL OF MY LIFE, I CAN LIVE FOR YOU AND BE WHAT YOU WANT ME TO BE.” THAT WON’T GET YOU SAVED, BUT THERE SHOULD BE A DESIRE IN YOUR HEART TO DO THAT. IT’S NOT A COMMITMENT ABOUT WHAT YOU WILL OR WILL NOT DO AFTER YOU’RE SAVED. SALVATION IS BASED ON FAITH. BUT THINK ABOUT THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. YOU WILL EITHER WASTE IT OR YOU WILL INVEST IT. IF YOU’RE WILLING TO PLACE YOUR TRUST IN CHRIST, HE WILL SAVE YOU. THEN GOD BEGINS THE PROCESS OF CLEANSING AND CHANGING ALL THE THINGS THAT TAKE PLACE IN A PERSON’S LIFE. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON WAITING UNTIL LATER IN LIFE, REMEMBER THIS: HELL IS PEOPLED WITH THOSE WHO WERE WAITING FOR A MORE CONVENIENT TIME. LORD JESUS, ONLY BY YOUR GRACE ARE WE SAVED. ONLY BY YOUR LOVE DO WE STAND HERE TODAY AS RECIPIENTS OF YOUR GRACE AND GOODNESS, LOVINGKINDNESS AND TENDER MERCY. I PRAY FOR THAT PERSON WHO HAS THOUGHT ABOUT IT, BUT NOT VERY SERIOUSLY; THAT PERSON WHO HAS THOUGHT ABOUT IT VERY SERIOUSLY; THAT PERSON WHO HAS PLANNED TO, BUT HAS PUT IT OFF; THAT ONE WHO HASN’T UNDERSTOOD, BUT NOW UNDERSTANDS. OH, FATHER, I PRAY IN THE NAME OF JESUS THAT EVERYONE HEARING THIS MESSAGE WHO IS UNSAVED WOULD MAKE THIS DECISION NOW TO PLACE THEIR TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF THEIR SIN AND RECEIVE HIM AS THEIR PERSONAL SAVIOR. MAY THEY ALLOW YOU TO BEGIN YOUR WONDERFUL WORK IN THEIR LIFE, BUILDING THEM UP, MAKING THEM WORTHY VESSELS TO SERVE YOU ALL THE DAYS OF THEIR LIFE THAT THEIR LIFE MAY COUNT FOR YOUR GLORY AND HONOR. I PRAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNDER DEEP CONVICTION, BUT WHO ARE STILL RESISTANT, TO REMEMBER THERE IS A LINE SOMEWHERE OUT THERE, KNOWN ONLY TO YOU, WHEN THEY WILL HEAR THE GOSPEL FOR THE LAST TIME; THEY WILL HEAR YOUR INVITATION FOR THE LAST TIME; THEY WILL FEEL THE TUGGING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR THE LAST TIME. THEN LIFE WILL BE OVER. THERE WILL BE NO 2ND CHANCE. DEAR GOD, SPEAK TO THAT SOMEBODY LEST THEY MAKE THE ETERNAL MISTAKE OF DYING WITHOUT CHRIST, IN WHOSE NAME WE PRAY, AMEN. (Narrator) THE VIDEO

30 Replies to “ETERNAL SECURITY 2: DOES IT REALLY MATTER?”

  1. So if someone that is saved, falls away (ie looses their salvation/fallen away), can they get it back or is it gone forever?

  2. Only thing I would say. is Preach the Resurrection more. He was Resurrected for our Justification
    Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

  3. Can anyone help me?
Do not think I can agree with this sermon. See below on just 2 pieces of scripture, but there are more:

    2 Timothy 2:12
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this book is addressing Timothy and/or the church at that time. Church would mean saved people that have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. I don't think that is in dispute by anyone.
Verse 12 makes a conditional statement, for it says ‘IF we endure, we shall also reign with Him’ and IF we deny Him, He will also deny us'. So the inverse would also be true, which would be If we DO NOT endure, we shall NOT reign with Him. In the KJV, it says in verse 12 ‘If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him (conditional again). If we deny Him, He also will deny us (conditional again, but on denying Him). My understanding (I could be wrong) is that this is written to Timothy, or the church. If this is written to the church (church would include people that are saved), then there would be no need to interject verse 12 into the scripture here. Jesus’s ability to remain faithful isn’t written off by verse 12, as He will always be with us, or available to us if we choose Him. If we do not, He is still there, but denying or leaving Him would fall into verse 12 here.
If there is a translation issue from Greek or the language of origin, let me know so I can research.

    Romans Chapter 11:29

KJV says ‘For the GIFTS and CALLING of God are without Repentance’. NKJV says Gifts and Calling of God are irrevocable. The gifts referred to here I believe are the spiritual gifts, as it is written in PLURAL form. Salvation would be singular if even that would be what it is referring to. But when I go to verse 22 & 23, it discusses being severed. To be severed, you must first be part of a whole(assumption of being saved originally). Verse 23 illustrates someone ‘that continued in unbelief will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in AGAIN’. To be “grafted again” would be you once were, but no longer, otherwise, grafting again would be a useless verse. So that tells me logically that if I can be grafted again, that means I can return after having "left".

The parable of the 10 virgins is such a huge illustration and parallel to believers. In the way it was written in Matthew 25, all 10 virgins were preparing for the return of Christ (Bridegroom). So logic tells me all 10 believed in His return. But 5 of them did not adequately prepare for his return (not enough oil). When the bridegroom arrived, He says He didn't know them and were left behind. Jesus further emphasizes to be on ALERT, because we do not know the hour/day in which He will return. If I am eternally secure, what is the point of being alert? What would that gain us to be on alert, or to be prepared?

Thoughts? I've been researching this across articles, videos, etc trying to come to a personal conclusion, but there are so many verses leading to the loss of salvation that are directed to the church.

  4. ( APOSTASY ) A CHRISTIAN CAN LOSE THEIR SALVATION AND BE LOST ETERNALLY
There are over forty scriptures in the New Testament which show severe consequences for Christians who become unfaithful.Because Baptists teach that a Christian cannot lose their salvation, you will never hear a Baptist preacher read the following passage of scripture publicly.

HEBREWS 3:12 Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ,if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,

Don't you think it is time for you Baptists to stand up to your preachers and say " NO MORE " false teachings. Quit trying to deceive people by substituting the word " works " for obedience. Obedience to Jesus and His teachings is a requirement if you want to go to Heaven. Heb 5:8-9, John 8:31-32, John 14:23, II John 1:9-11. Matt 28:18-20, etc. There is a difference between a Christian committing a sin and practicing a sin. Today I heard a Baptist preacher quote I John 1:7-9 and leave out the first word ( IF ) which changes the whole meaning of the passage. Wake up Baptists before it is too late.

  5. Eternal security through FAITH in Christ Jesus is confirmed in John 6:47 "Amen I say unto you, he who believes has eternal life." John 10:27-29 Galatians 2:16 is excellent

  6. I'm very confused by this teaching. I have one question that needs to be answered: If a believer willfully sins, and does not ask for forgiveness for that sin, what are the consequences of their rebellion?

  7. For some reason I can't watch this video. I've been trying to watch it for days and it only buffers or sends me a message saying "no connection". I can watch any other video but this one.

  8. "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6)

  9. How to be saved ?
    How to become a Christian?
How to have certainty & security knowing you will go to heaven ?
You must believe, trust have faith in Jesus Christ alone, as God and a man born of a virgin, died ,on a cross buried and rose again, fulfilling the prophecies of Christ .

Add no works of your own, to be certain you are saved ,you must trust in what Christ says & did. For we are saved by grace a gift from God & our faith in him , not by our works of any laws. All go to heaven by simply faith in JC alone just as he said in John 3:16 . The indwelling of the Holy Spirit happens at the moment of sincere belief, this is the baptism by Spirit that saves not dunking by water. Water is just , symbolic act of faith for the believer.

We grow in truth by studying the WORD. Meaning listening to God speak through the Bible and trust in his word alone . The Word of God says we must be born again to see the kingdom of God. The new birth makes us a new creature called a saint of God, sons and daughters of God the Father by our faith in the Son of God ,the Holy Spirit of God dwells in us as promised never to leave. it is impossible to become unborn thus impossible to lose our salvation. That is good news!)

    John 3
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth (trust, faith) in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth (trust, faith) on him is not condemned:

but he that (believeth (trust, faith) not .is condemned) already, because he hath not believed (trusted)in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness (rather than light, ).because their deeds( works) were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil( hateth the light,)neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds( works) should be reproved.

21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds (work)may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

    John 3
31( He that cometh from above is above all:) he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.

33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.

34 For he ( the Word) whom God ( Father)hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit (HS ) by measure unto him.( JC)

35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

36 He that believeth(trust-faith) on the Son hath (everlasting life: )and he that believeth (trust-faith)not the Son shall not see life; but the (wrath of God) abideth on him.

(John 3 tells men how to be saved & reveals the trinity making clear the Father sends & loves the Son who came from above. His desire is to lose none so he made salavation easy for all.)

    1 John 5

5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is BORN of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

4 For whatsoever is BORN of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

    John 14
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you (for ever;)

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him
not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

    John 13
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

    John 14
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

(What is the work of the believers to be saved? Jesus says believe(faith-trust) on him.

    John 6

27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto (everlasting life, )which the Son of man (shall give). unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

28 Then said they unto him,(What shall we do) that we might work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, (This is the work of God,)that ye
( believe on him whom he hath sent)

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day..

    1 John 5
10 He that believeth ( trust, faith)on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth( trust, faith) not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth( trust, faith) not the record that God gave of his Son.

11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

13 These things have I written unto you that believe( trust, faith) on the name of the Son of God; that ye. may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe( trust, faith) on the name of the Son of God.

    John 16
13 Howbeit when he, (the Spirit of truth, )is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

    2 Peter 2
9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

    2 Corinthians 5
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

11 Knowing therefore (the terror) of the Lord,(we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to .answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

    constraineth ..def
To compel by physical, moral, or circumstantial force; oblige:

15 And that he died for all, that they which live
( should not henceforth live unto themselves,)
but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

17 Therefore (if any man be in Christ,) he is(a new creature:.)
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

    Romans 10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

( The gospel (good news )of Christ means just what it says it is good news that sinful men can be saved by faith(trust) alone in sinless JC . Saved from what? Saved from the judgement of hell for 1 sin , we are saved from all sins by the sacrifice of 1 JC. God judge & cursed men to die for 1 sin then go to eternal hell. We are saved from this judgment of hell to see heaven once born again. Even as we still die b/c the wages of sin is death. Accept the def. of the words everlasting life, eternal life & for ever b/c God does not lie.

I truly desire none to go to hell,b/c we all are born on the same path until we make a U turn to Christ. ( meaning repent change your thinking our mind about who JC is and be saved born again forever .

  10. One of the only pastors left who still preaches the true Gospel, Once Saved, Always Saved. This needs to be shouted from the rooftops today 🙂

  11. All of these you can loose your salvation people don't know how to rightly divide God's word. Pastor Stanley's been my best teacher. The next one is John MacArthur, Chuck swindol.

  12. 30:017 Its not pride moron, its understanding of the scriptures. The scriptures don't teach easy prayerism, ye must abide in Christ. Ye must be born again heretic. Narrow is the way and few there be that find it. Twisting the gospel, you're gonna split hell wide open reprobate!

  13. What do we do with Hebrews 10:26-28: 26 For if we go on willfully and deliberately sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice [to atone] for our sins [that is, no further offering to anticipate], 27 but a kind of awful and terrifying expectation of [divine] judgment and the fury of a fire and burning wrath which will consume the adversaries [those who put themselves in opposition to God]. 28 Anyone who has ignored and set aside the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

  14. What do you do with this: James 2:14, 14 What is the benefit, my fellow believers, if someone claims to have faith but has no [good] works [as evidence]? Can that [kind of] faith save him? [No, a mere claim of faith is not sufficient—genuine faith produces good works.]

  15. What do you do with Matthews 7:13-14: 13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it.
