Ederlezi – Traditional folksong, arr. Imre Ploeg

All Roma, mommy, are dancing the Oro, are celebrating this day. All Roma, are dancing the Oro, are celebrating this day. All Roma, are dancing the Oro, are celebrating this day. They give us, daddy, a lamb. All Roma, daddy, are slaughtering the lambs. Hey, all Roma, daddy, all Roma, mommy. Hey, the feast of Saint George! All Roma, mommy! Hey, all Roma, daddy, all Roma, mommy. Hey, the feast of Saint George! All Roma, mommy! All Roma, mommy. Our day, the feast of Saint-George! They give us, daddy, a lamb. All Roma, daddy, are slaughtering the lambs. They give us, daddy, a lamb. All Roma, daddy, are slaughtering the lambs. Hey, all Roma, daddy, all Roma, mommy. Hey, the feast of Saint-George! All Roma, mommy! Hey, all Roma, daddy, all Roma, mommy. Hey, the feast of Saint-George! All Roma, mommy! The feast of Saint-George. All Roma, mommy. The feast of Saint-George. All Roma, mommy.

  1. This is simply stunning work. I have studied this song since Time of the Gypsies was made. This is a powerful and evocative arrangement worthy of great praise and adulation. Kudos. Let the music of the human diaspora wash the sins of us all away.

  2. I have been looking for this song for so long, and this version really touches my soul. Even if I don't understand the lyrics, it doesn't matter because this version goes beyond any barrier and it's very emotional. Thank you.

  3. Oh, so deeply beautiful! Such stunning work and power of the chorus. I would just say, I would so much wish the tempo of the solo be a little faster, as it is a song of celebration – (same rhythm as of 4'15, which renders better the spirit of celebration and of the original version). But really, Kudos – your chant is divine, we can heart the voices coming from the heart!

  4. Excellent job! Extraordinary precision, and thank you for the lyrics. Awe!!! and one more thing -=> 😉 song took 5 minutes – applause took 2… ! ! ! extra-class in itself (and beautifull people singing)

  7. This is an offense to the original song: this version is much too "polished" and clean. Much too slow also. This is a Roma song, when performed by Goran Bregovic it is raw, natural, pure. At 1:51 minutes, the pause is very disturbing and not adequate. The background vocals of the men, starting at 2:25, are badly performed as they "jump" instead of fluently changing tone. At 2:58, the solo comes out much too weak. At 4:59, and later, the solo "Ederlezi" comes out too soft again. At 5:29 the choir gets to "hesitate" to sing, almost. All in all a bad performance, not up too what it should be. Het gevaar van imiteren.

  8. Such an amazing song!!!! I just discovered this music and, in my humble opinion, it is really amazing. I can not even explain how it makes me feel, I haven't listened to something like this. Now I want to learn to play violin and play this wonderful song. Could some body explain me more about all this culture and traditions please? I would be really so glad. And congratulations to all these guys who performed this song.

  9. But song is beutifull…….. words are : Spring is coming on my shoulders, lilly of the vally is blooming, everyone else exept me. Hey to whome my darling is smelling on the lilly of the vally.here's the dawn to prey to god, its st. Georges day to everione else, but to me never again………and repeat….. and they were going to ceartain death…… so sad when u know……

  10. This is not Traditional Romani folksong, it was song that was writen in train towards Jasenovac Concentration Camp in Croatian in WW2, Romani just took the song, but original is from WW2

  11. Sorry to disappoint you but this is not a "original" Gypsy song, the melody is (N)Macedonian/Bulgarian and the dance "Oro"/Horo/Хоро is not from Gypsy origin. Only one text. 😖
Edit: I have never ever seen a Rom (Gypsy) dancing "Oro"/"Horo".
    It's not in their blood….

  12. This is absolutely stunning. I clicked on this just out of curiosity and when you guys started singing, tears started streaming down my face. I haven't had this experience in quite some time.
    Really moving.
    Thank you.
