Bishop Burbidge Invites You to Our Fortnight for Freedom Opening Mass

Hello, this is Bishop Michael Burbidge of
the Diocese of Arlington. On June the 21st, we will begin the seventh
Fortnight for Freedom, two weeks in time when we, as the Church in the United States, gather
in special ways to thank, to reflect, to educate and to pray. To thank God for the greatest of our freedoms,
the most treasured: that of religious liberty. To reflect on the Gospel mandate, to bring
our religion, to bring our faith, into the public arena, without fear, without hesitation. To educate so that we understand the real
threats to religious freedom in our day and age, and what we can do to protect it. But most especially, to pray. To ask God to bless us and our nation. To ask Mary, our Mother, under the title of
the Immaculate Conception, the Patroness of our country, to watch over us. To ask our diocesan patron, St. Thomas More,
to intercede for us. Now here’s a special invitation for you: On
the Feast of St. Thomas More, I will celebrate Mass at 7 p.m. in St. Thomas More Cathedral. What a wonderful way for us to gather. as brothers and sisters in Christ, as fellow
citizens. To learn more about what is going on in our
Diocese during the Fortnight for Freedom, and in our parishes, check www.arlingtondiocese.org/fortnight Through the intercession of Mary, Our Mother, may God bless us, and may God bless America.
