Architecture Portfolio Preparation Course at Central Saint Martins

I think there are a
lot of preconceived notions about what architecture and spatial design might be and I think that
coming into the course students are quite surprised by the openness and interpretation,
and possibly the conceptual and the artistic approaches that one could take towards an
architectural design project. You’re not only putting in your portfolio at the end of the
project, you’re like putting all the same stages you’ve been through to get to this
final project. You learn how to think and how your thinking project goes into action.
And we also have workshop facilities that are available for model making which include
plaster, plastic, metal and wood. The point of the course was also to helping us find
a path. I think a misconception is that a portfolio is just the way the work looks,
but in fact the portfolio is a body of work that has been built up so it is the content
that is quite important and the content is going to be structure through the projects
that we are going to introduce. It is a way of thinking, it’s a way of approaching work
and it becomes a part of your design process. You see from a cardboard turns into a building
and that building has the processes inside and you see how humans interaction goes on
and how it affects the community. It makes you discovering all the different way you
can express yourself.
