choji’s appear learning business our mission is to change the way the world’s top professionals gather and share expertise and teach and learn I define the learning opportunities as things which could be disrupted by this idea that all these people in the world want to share their expertise we define learning more broadly than other people and we’re talking about high-level professionals we just happen to be applying a marketplace model to it find someone who has a very specific piece of expertise and match them to someone who wants to learn from that exact person about that exact county or of expertise that’s not inventing a new type of learning but it is far more scalable more global today people think about disrupting professional education or education general as how do you scale the knowledge that one person has to lots of other people but learning doesn’t really take place that way if you think about how people learn most professionals would say they learn the most in a conversation if you really want to grow as a professional or learn about a really esoteric piece of subject matter it’s really hard to read about it some of that stuff hasn’t been written down a lot of it’s about perspective a lot of it’s about a back and forth you have to create an environment for learning take place that accounts for all those things and in my mind that’s one-to-one learning and so what we’re doing is scaling one-to-one learning and that will disrupt lots of different types of classroom based learning that people have no choice but to go to like executive education go to a university for two weeks in the fall to learn about marketing generically speaking or find the exact person that understands the exact kind of marketing you’re doing and learn from them today when you have the business problem that seems more exciting to me in most ways we’re just getting started with this we did change the way that investors make decisions I don’t mean that we did something entirely new but we did become essential to the world’s best investors that really aren’t investment firms that don’t think about learning in this way and that’s a large category but it’s a relatively small category across the economy and the total number of potential students and teachers and learners across the platform like this and so we’re just getting started with companies and consultants and lawyers in each of those categories is really a multi-billion dollar market for learning as we define it
