I’m Adrian Calderon. I play piano in the Jazz I. The caliber of musicianship we heard here, from the street musicians all the way to the University students was just absolutely insane. They’re just complete owners of their instruments. Rhythm is the biggest thing when it comes to music here. Rhythm is kind of a driving force at the end of our concerts, we just start jamming, you know and the students were so eager to just be like, “Yeah! Let’s just play, let’s just play.” That was the best moment when the, kind of, the curtains of professionalism kind of dropped and we were interacting, and talking, and and some of the students that didn’t speak Spanish were gesturing and trying to get their ideas across. I think those moments really stood out. People realize that it’s way easier, and way less effort to be positive and to exchange ideas. I knew it was going to be very positive, but I never expected to be that positive and that open.
