Back in 1969 the building was first
built there was a school closed in 1980 and then in 1984 the Community
Association was formed and took over the building This year we decided to upgrade
our lighting system We went from fluorescent to LEDs and
then our other project was to do new ceiling tiles because the ceiling tiles
were original from 1969, which they’re all fiberglass. So the
port is actually going to help us install some of the ceiling tiles and
one of the rooms in the building. I’m actually very appreciative. I mean this
isn’t the first time the port has stepped in.
Last year we silver coated our roof and we actually had the port here. There was
approximately six people from the port that came out and spent I don’t know how
many hours during a hot day on that roof silver coating it. Then that wasn’t fun,
but it helped a lot so we didn’t have any water leaks and stuff because it had
not been done in many years. It’s a very kind of like historic area because it is
in old historic Dundalk But St. Helena was actually here before Dundalk was ever created But we have a little bit of everything here We have renters, we have
homeowners, plus we have industrial right behind us So we have businesses here. It’s kind of unique in that fashion.
